3rd Annual Polo for Change event will be held on the afternoon of June 8th, 2019 at Chamberlain Ranch in Wilton. This spectacular event will combine the excitement of a polo match with the society event of the season! Guests will enjoy an afternoon of polo, delicious food and drink, live music, shopping, raffles and prizes, equine demonstrations, a fabulous hat contest, and the traditional Champagne Divot Stomp! Proceeds from the Event will benefit Saint John's Program for Real Change
As a committed partner of ours, you may know that Saint John’s Program for Real Change operates the largest shelter in Sacramento County, and the only one focused exclusively on homeless women and children. Our total daily capacity is 270, with an annual capacity of 1,000. We work to address homelessness as a symptom of a variety of deep issues such as substance abuse, domestic violence, emotional and mental health challenges and multi-generational poverty. The women at Saint John’s spend up to 18 months on this journey of transformation, a journey filled with many stories of success. All services are on-site and designed to centralize support ensuring the much needed accountability, efficiency and coordination. Our cost to move one person from homelessness to family sustainability is $17,000. That is $33,000 less than Sacramento County pays to carry a homeless individual in its system for one year. The long-term, generational and financial impact of Saint John’s “teaching them to fish” approach is immeasurable. We can’t thank you enough for helping these women and children on their journey!
