Newest update on or favorite equines.

Excuse the late text, I’m just doing it because I have put off my update for a reasonable daylight hour and apparently I will never have one again until the snow flies 😂

I think Reba heard that I was worried about her because she has been a very good girl the last few weeks- and has a few new riders this week. We’ve got her scheduled with experienced horse leaders, and working specifically outside of lessons with being led by different people and working on her tolerance of toys and equipment. She’s doing well! She is reactive on the right side and not so much on the left- likely from the vision so we are conscious of it and adapting for her.

Fritz is being the good little joy that he is, and I like to teach the kids about his FOMO (fear of missing out)- they’ve been very sympathetic when he whinnies for the other horses if they are apart 😅

Hank had X-rays done two weeks ago and it showed a big abscess that is going to take a long time to come out, we’re soaking every day and treating to help it along.

I hope you have a great night!

So that's all the news on our 3 favorites. They are doing good and helping many. Yay!!!

Newest update from Shelby at High Hurdles therapeutic riding about our beloved horses we donated to them for their program.

01/06/2026

Newest update on our three horses that have gone on to their new therapy homes. BO now know as "Hank" is at High Hurdles therapy program and Reba and Fritz have joined the Lothlorian Therapy program. Shelby is the program director for both programs. She sends me updates this is her most recent.

We shook things up a bit as Reba and Fritz have been super attached at the hip. Fritz went out with his new friend Bluprint and Reba with the rest of the herd, all is well!
I got on both of them today and they were pretty good- most of the nerves I think were being separated from each other. Reba has HUGE gaits! She was good under saddle and then I played with the toys a bit. She'll need some work with them but we knew that! Fritz was just impatient without Reba in the arena so I think separating them will really help that. He likes Blu!

Hank got his first ride in and he was a perfect gentleman, couldn't have asked for better!
I thanked her and told her I think they will be a balling addition to her programs. Her reply-

I think so too! We have a slow start to the lesson season with a few lessons beginning this week so I'm hoping to get a few rides under their belts here and slowly work them in with our winter riders before March when the full season starts!

I'm told her I would like to visit them at the end of the month and then again when the lessons start. I'll keep you updated.

Our guy being introduced. So glad he will be a solid back up for their other horse. Oh the ppl you will help big guy. Make my heart happy.

More About Hank!

We were recently contacted by a program north of us that is reducing its herd size, and from the moment we met Hank, we were smitten. Hank “Bocephus” is in his mid-teens and has a well rounded background from driving and trail riding to arena work with adaptive riding students.

A Percheron/Morgan cross, Hank is a solid, handsome guy, weighing in at around 1,300 lbs and standing nearly 16 hands high. His size and steady experience mean he’ll be able to comfortably accommodate many of our larger adult riders, giving Penny a well-deserved break.

We’re so excited to get to know Hank better and to share him with our riders. Welcome to the family, Hank! 🐴

Just wanted to give an update on our crew that went on to their new jobs. All are doing great. Reba and Fritz were introduced to the lift and did great. Bo has been given a new barn name (Hank) as a tribute to Hank Williams Jr. (Aka Bocifus) which is what Bo's full name is. There is already a beau in his barn so it helps keep horses straight. I'm gonna wait till they settle in a little bit more and then I will be down for a visit and take pictures and keep you all updated. But I would like everyone to congratulate these three on going into these facilities and continuing helping out this special population of people.

Bo, Reba and Fritz- have gone onto their new adventure. These 3 horses have been working in the therapeutic field for combined time frame of six years. I have been looking for a place to lease them out to for over a year. And then I thought to myself, well, they're therapeutic horses. Let's try a therapeutic horseback riding center. So I reached out and lo and behold, they were interested in all 3 of them. They are on a 30 day trial. At the end of 30 days. They will become full-time therapy horses if everything works out. If everything does not work out that way, which I don't know why it wouldn't because that's what they did with me then, we will look for another avenue for them to go to. Winter is hard at my barn for lessons because we don't have an indoor arena. This helps out the therapy barns and myself and the horses.

The Equinoxes divide the Solstices. They are arbitrary. The actual change in seasons is the day of equal light to nite (Equilux). For most North American latitudes, that day is September 25 or 26. So it is the day after the Equilux that actually begins the new season. In the northern hemisphere, that season is Autumn.
