Fresh Start Rescue Inc Fresh Start Rescue is a 501c3 reptile rescue serving the Wilmington area and surrounding counties🐍🦎 Fresh Start Rescue Inc is a 501c3 reptile rescue.

We have been rescuing iguanas for years in Wilmington under another non-profit and have now become our own organization. We rescue all types of reptiles and exotic animals. Our rescue members and volunteers include specialists in the care of iguanas, snakes, chameleons, geckos, and exotic wildlife. We have spent years learning to properly care for these animals, and now our goal is to help find loving forever homes for reptiles in need. Nicole and Mike Spencer started Fresh Start Rescue Inc and Fresh Start Farm is our retirement dream. After years of public service we have moved to 5 acres in a small town and created our dream farm. We have goats, chickens, ducks and turkeys, and tons of reptiles!

We are very sad to say goodbye to Rainbow Mealworms. We have been a customer for many years. They have supported our rescue with donations to our fundraisers. They had exceptional customer service and we've never received dead or unhealthy order in all the years we used them. It's always sad to see such a longstanding small business close their doors.

Before we knew our fall event season was going to fall apart, we had ordered two very large enclosures from Briggs Darrah at BD Builds. Thanks to the amazing generosity of Briggs and the deal he gave us, plus a donation by David Cuomo in honor of his late father, one of the enclosures was fully paid for at the time of ordering.

Fast forward to October, the cages were finished, and we could no longer afford to spend the money on the second one. Briggs offered to let us just pick up the one we had paid for and he would sell the other. An offer not many builders would be happy to make. So if he hasn't sold it yet, and you're in the market for an 8*4*4, his phone number is in the photos below!

This enclosure will be for Walter the black throat monitor. And when things are financially better, we fully intend to get a second one (or more, if we can figure out how to squeeze them in the building)! More photos to come as it gets moved into place, decorated and setup. Right now it's taking up our entire quarantine room 😳😂

Unfortunately due to the weather, we have made the really difficult decision not to attend the Autumn with Topsail festival today. I just don't feel it's safe for the animals and the volunteers.

This is a rain or shine event so it is still open if you want to venture out there to do some shopping.

We plan to be there for sure on Sunday. The rain will be gone and we will brave the winds as long as possible.

This was a big event for us that we really needed. We're hoping Sunday will be packed!! Please plan to come see us and enjoy the festival.

We're going to need all of our followers to start praying and wishing for good fall weather for this weekend! We'll be at the Autumn with Topsail Festival Saturday and Sunday. We need that rain chance to go away and the winds to calm a bit. And we need EVERYONE to come out and see us!!

Tesla has passed away and I am not ok.
He was close to 20 years old.

He's been mostly retired for a long time now but he was the face of this rescue for many years.

Thank you all so much for all the wish list items that have been sent this weekend!!! We got all but two of the items we need.

We still have to have these two smaller Kane mats for the younger tortoises. According to the weather channel, winter is going to make a short appearance this weekend! 😳 🥶

If you sort our wishlist by priority, you'll see the mats at the top of the list.
