We'll finish out the week with Lori! Lori has been at Talleyville since 2017 and still loves going to work every day! She enjoys her time at work interacting with clients and pets alike and can't see herself ever doing anything else! Although her three children have all moved into their own homes, Lori keeps busy taking care of her husband and their 3 dogs, 9 cats, 2 pigs, hamster, hermit crabs, gecko, fish, bearded dragon and tortoise! Although Lori is the senior tech, she hopes to continue working for many years to come! :)

Senior cats may slow down, but subtle changes can tell us a lot about their health. 🐱💙 As cats age, wellness exams may include kidney and thyroid screening, monitoring for often-overlooked signs of arthritis, and tracking weight changes. Regular senior exams can help uncover concerns early and guide care as their needs change. Schedule your senior cat’s wellness exam today!

In honor of vet tech week, we will be highlighting a different technician each day so you can get to know a little about the people who are taking care of your pet! We will start with one of our longest running employees ~ Destinie! As some of you may remember, Destinie started as the kennel tech many years ago when we used to board dogs and cats at Talleyville. She is now one of our most talented technicians! When asked to describe herself, Destinie says ~ "I am a homebody and love spending time at home with my husband and 2 cats, Gonzo and Sasha. I enjoy coloring, enjoy trying new restaurants and love video games. I also enjoy watching horror movies. I love all things creepy and for a little fun fact, I got married on Halloween and will be celebrating my third year of marriage!" Destinie spends her time at both our Talleyville and Graylyn Crest locations, so be sure to say hi the next time you see her!

💙 Ask any of our veterinarians, and you will hear the same thing. The care a patient receives depends just as much on the technician standing beside them.

Help us celebrate the people who make quality veterinary care possible this week. 🎉 🐾

As daylight decreases and routines change, some cats may nap more, while others become restless or look for extra ways to burn energy. A few simple enrichment activities can help keep them mentally stimulated and physically active all season long.

Try adding a cozy window perch for bird watching, scheduling a short interactive play session each day, or introducing a puzzle feeder to make mealtime more engaging. Small changes can make a big difference in your cat's overall well-being.

What does your cat love most: watching birds, chasing toys, or climbing to the highest spot in the house? Let us know! 🐱

Exercise doesn’t have to mean running miles! 🐾 Slow walks, swimming, sniff adventures, and enrichment games can help dogs stay active while being gentle on their joints. Every little bit of movement counts.

Pumpkin carving is a fun fall tradition, but curious pets need a little extra care! 🎃🐶🐱 Keep carving tools and pumpkin seeds out of reach, supervise pets around lit candles, and remember that plain pumpkin flesh is safe in moderation. Avoid letting pets chew on the stem or any moldy pumpkin. Keep the season festive with a little extra pet safety! 🧡

🍂 Fall views are better from a safe window.

Even indoor-only cats can leap, climb, or push against a screen when something outside catches their attention, and standard insect screens aren’t always strong enough to hold them.

Help keep your cat safely inside:

🐾 Use securely fitted, pet-resistant screens or window guards

🐾 Check screens regularly for tears, loose frames, and gaps

🐾 Limit how far unscreened windows can open

🐾 Take extra precautions in apartments and high-rise homes

A secure window lets your cat enjoy the view and gives you greater peace of mind. 🐈
