👀 Only the face a mother could love! We kid, we all love these majestic birds. This is a red-tailed hawk with Skywatch Bird Rescue! It is not uncommon this time of year to have young adult hawks be evaluated for their vision and hunting skills. This hawk passed her eye exam and now is on to a live feeding test! Hopefully she will continue to learn to hunt and be cleared for release. ❤️

Dr Fisher and the staff with Animal Eye Care were at the NCVMA Summer Conference in Wilmington this weekend! 🏝️ 🌊 ☀️

The staff was getting the latest updates on CPR with the RECOVER Course offered through the conference walking through real life simulation of emergencies while Dr Fisher was a featured ophthalmology speaker. What a great conference! Thank you to North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, RECOVER, 4 Paws CPR, LLC, and Epicur Pharma for having us!

🐾🐾 Is that a pair of super heroes I see... Batman and Robin maybe? Oh wait, it's Biz and Binky! And they are doing a SUPER good job of keeping their eyes protected with their OptiVizor face shields. Flat faced dogs are prone to injuries and these nice little masks do a great job of preventing any unwanted pokes or scratches. Come say hi 👋🏼 as we will have all of our AEC Wilmington family at Carolina DockDogs 2026 Battleship Splash this Saturday!

Paige’s best boy Hero 🐕 will be jumping for multiple events Friday-Sunday so come cheer him on! 🏅

Jennifer’s husband, Steven, will have Chef Driven Food Truck out Friday-Saturday from 11-3pm serving up the BEST burgers 🍔 and fresh fish 🐟 tacos on this side of the Cape Fear - you don’t want to miss out! 😋 Don’t worry, we’ll make sure he stocks up on treats for the pups, too. 😉

🐶 Treating Refractory Corneal Ulcers with Burr Keratoplasty 🐶

At Animal Eye Care , we see A LOT of painful refractory corneal ulcers that fail to heal with medications alone.

Diamond burr debridement (DBD) is an effective solution that gently removes damaged tissue and stimulates healthy healing. Typically performed with just topical numbing drops and sometimes sedation, this quick procedure helps new corneal cells adhere properly and dramatically improves comfort.
