🦌 Please Leave Fawns Alone ❌
Each year well meaning people come across a sight like this and think something is wrong. This is completely normal behavior for a deer fawn, and human intervention is unnecessary.
⭐ The More You Know 🌈
⏺️ Fawns are born nearly scentless (so predators cannot find them easily). They also have spots that serve as camouflage and are able to stand soon after being born, but as a protective tactic will remain hidden.
⏺️ It is common for female deer in urban areas to place fawns around homes, backyards, or flower beds. The mother placed it there because she felt it would be safe (often intentionally near humans).
⏺️ To protect her fawn, the mother will spend very little time with it. This is to prevent attracting predators to the fawn’s location. She will leave her fawn in various hiding places for long periods of time, returning several times a day to nurse it. By staying away, the mother is protecting it.
⏺️ Fawns will begin following their mothers at four weeks old. When they are two months old, fawns are able to forage for themselves and are completely weaned from their mother.

ADOPTABLE:
Meet Bubba, a gorgeous American Bully with an even bigger heart! 🤍🐾
At just 14 months old, Bubba is sweet, handsome, and ready to adore his future family. He loves riding in the car, walks beautifully on a leash, and was well behaved during a group walk through Wilmington College. While he hadn’t been around other dogs before coming to us, he has gotten along with them at our facility.
Bubba is the total package: loving, adorable, and eager to be someone’s loyal best friend. If you’ve been looking for a companion who will happily go on adventures and shower you with affection, Bubba may be your perfect match.
Please share to help this handsome boy find the loving home he deserves! 🐶❤️

Ten years ago, a sweet dog found his forever home through the Clinton County Humane Society — and what a beautiful decade it was.
Because of one adoption, this dog knew comfort, safety, adventure, and unconditional love.❤️🐾
“About 10 years ago, my wife and I adopted a dog, ‘Django’ (we renamed him to Jango to help everyone with the spelling) from your humane society. He was an Australian shepherd/border-collie mix. …
“About a week ago, Jango passed away.
“… I just wanted to thank you for your organization and the gift of allowing us to rescue him. Jango was truly my wife and I's best friend. He moved with us to Seattle about seven years ago and was a large part of our family. He was able to see us adopt our two children, and they loved having him in the home.
“When we picked up Jango from your humane society, we had no idea the joy and happiness that he would bring. Thank you for the work that you are doing and I hope that you can continue to bring that same joy and happiness to many other families.”

Thank YOU for adopting Jango from the Clinton County Humane Society! 😭😭😭

ADOPTABLE:
Meet Aneira, an 18-month-old pittie princess-in-training 👑🐾
Currently thriving in foster care, this sweet girl is learning how to fully embrace her inner royal energy, with a little help from her trainer (see photo 😍).
Her foster family said she is “bigger than a bread box, smaller than a husky,” which is the perfect size for couch cuddles and car ride adventures. 🚗💨
Aneira is:
✔️ Housetrained
✔️ A great car rider
✔️ Smart and eager to learn
✔️ 100% adorable
She’s putting in the work, growing in confidence every day, and looking cuter than ever while doing it. 💕
