The grinch had a mini field trip to get some sun and change of scenery. We stayed out until she put her pissy pants back on.

And before you all come at me….We’ve tried training harnesses. She will not have it. So leg leash is what she uses. I hold her leg lead high so even if she tried to take flight she wouldn’t make lift off.

In my opinion, some risk is better than no life and living confined to a cage . There’s risk to my multi species flock cohabitating out of cage. I also recognize that. But again. Living a fuller life is worth the risk to me.

This is the closest I’ve ever seen the three of them without Drake trying to “off” someone, Pookie free falling to save himself and Ziggy sitting still for more then a 30 second stint.

Since 5:30 am.. a party of chirps, beeps, boops, whoops, bubbles, whistles, screaming and a slew of other noises.

I fell asleep early on the couch and didn’t sneak in to lock the last two up for the night. 🙄

In an effort to keep Drake out of all of the cabinets (that I purchased to keep my stuff safe and unchewed from him), I emptied one and gave it up as his hideout. As long as I change the rotation of items in his hideout cabinet, it’s been working.

Drake in his glory for your viewing pleasure.

Feather plucking in parrots is more than a bad habit, it’s usually a sign that something isn’t right.

It can be caused by medical issues, poor diet, stress, boredom, or lack of social interaction. That’s why the first step should always be ruling out health concerns with an avian vet, then looking at environment, enrichment, and routine.

The important thing to understand: once a parrot starts plucking, it can become a learned behavior or habit, even after the original cause is resolved. This makes early intervention especially important.

Providing proper nutrition, mental stimulation, consistency, and daily interaction can make a big difference. While some birds may not fully regrow feathers, many can improve with time, patience, and the right care.
