Your reminder that the busy summer travel season is here! One of the most common last-minute surprises we see is discovering a pet’s vaccines are overdue right before boarding.
Some tips before your trip:
✔️ Check vaccine records at least one month before travel
✔️ Confirm requirements with your boarding facility
✔️ Schedule vet appointments early to avoid added travel stress
✔️ Make sure your parasite prevention is up to date
Ideally, pets should have vaccines updated at least 10–14 days before boarding to give their immune system time to build strong protection against contagious illnesses. Some boarding facilities may also require vaccines to be completed within a specific timeframe prior to arrival to help reduce the spread of disease and keep all pets safe.
Common boarding vaccine requirements may include:
• Dogs: Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Influenza
• Cats: Rabies, FVRCP
It’s also important for pets to have a quick wellness check before boarding, especially if they’ve had coughing, sneezing, vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in energy level.
Your future vacation-self will thank you! ☀️🐾
