Oreo is a young 4 month old dude who is already doing SO well! His family just wanted some guidance, as it’s been a few years since they’ve had a puppy.

He already has a lot of the basics down, so we’re just building on that foundation. Being a poodle mix, we also talked about the importance of “puppy grooms.” Getting them used to the grooming process at a young age can make such a difference!

One of the goals for Oreo is eventually being off leash, so we’ve started laying the foundation for a really solid recall.

We can’t wait to watch this dude grow!

We work on all those important little things that make life with your puppy SO much easier potty training, crate skills, calmness, biting/nipping, boundaries, handling, confidence, name recognition, polite manners, proper socialization and more!

It’s that time of year folks. Along with back to school time sadly comes KENNEL COUGH for dogs.

We are thankful that we haven’t seen any cases at Proper Pups, but we want to make folks aware and remind everyone to please be mindful.

Kennel cough is basically the dog version of a nasty upper respiratory infection. It’s HIGHLY contagious and spreads through the air, coughing, sneezing, shared water bowls, toys, close contact, etc. And just like a human cold, dogs can spread it before you even realize they’re sick.

A cough doesn’t always mean kennel cough, but it’s definitely something we need to know about.

If your dog is coughing, sneezing excessively, has nasal discharge, or is showing any signs of being sick, PLEASE keep them home and contact us before bringing them in.

We know nobody wants to miss daycare, boarding, or training, but keeping a sick pup home helps protect all of our dogs especially puppies, seniors, and dogs with compromised immune systems.

We will do our part to keep Proper Pups as healthy as possible. We just need everyone else to do their part too.

Organized Chaos

This crowd brings A LOT of energy! Half of them are puppies 5 months or younger, and the older dogs are just as playful.

Yes, you see dogs zooming, flying every which way and generally looking like complete chaos BUT… no one is being bullied. No one is being pinned down. There is lots of healthy back and forth, chase me, now you chase me, okay your turn… you get the idea!

This particular mix was only together for a short bit before some of the puppies were pulled and placed in kennels.

Why? Because learning to play is only part of it. We also want them learning how to toggle from excitement back to calm. That off switch is HUGE!

Controlled chaos is still chaos with a purpose. 😉

Welcome Tad to Puppy Day Camp!

This handsome little man is learning to be the best guy he can be! His family has already put in the work and laid a great basic foundation, so we’ll be building on that.

We’ll be fine tuning those listening ears, working on appropriate dog play, confidence, manners, and all the fun puppy stuff in between!

He’s already made some quick friends with a few of the pups and is settling right in. We can’t wait to watch this guy grow!

PSA: from Rat... Noise sensitive pups in WILLIAMSTOWN!

TESTING ONLY......

Tonight between 6 and 630PM the emergency siren will sound off as a test and test only. The siren is to alert the town in the event of a natural disaster and to take steps towards evacuation. Going forward we will sound it every 1st Monday of the month between 6 and 630pm.

In the event of a real emergency the siren will sound for 10 seconds pause and two additional times for 10 seconds with a total of 30 seconds.

AGAIN ONLY TESTING NO NEED TO TAKE ANY ACTION.

Jinx… what can we say about this girl?!?

She’s AWESOME. No behavioral issues, an absolute gem to be around, and overall just fabulous. Soooo… why is she here for training?

Well, her recall is good… until it’s not.

Her family LOVES hiking and wants Jinx to be able to enjoy off leash freedom while still having a reliable safety net. So this girl has been learning the e-collar for off leash recall, building that reliability so her family can confidently give her more freedom SAFELY.

Because training isn’t just about fixing problems. Sometimes it’s about taking an already amazing dog and giving them the skills to safely enjoy MORE of life. We cannot WAIT to see this amazing family out there enjoying some well earned off leash adventures together!
