S.O.S Animal Shelter

S.O.S Animal Shelter S.O.S. (Save Our Strays) is a non-profit organization consisting of officers, board members and foster parents.

We appreciate the donations and support from our local business" and communities. (Save Our Strays) is a non-profit organization consisting of officers, board members volunteers. Mingo County recently hired a "dog catcher" that will pick up animals, but will have limited space to house them. We are trying to work WITH them to find homes for the animals before other measures are taken. At S.O.S., w

e take pride in the fact that we ARE helping these animals and we are not going to GIVE UP on them! Our goal is to have a safe place to keep abandoned or stray animals until we can find a home for them. We believe that ALL animals deserve a chance to survive and find a "forever" home! If we can save even ONE animal from being put to sleep without a reason, then we have accomplished our goal. Your donation is tax-deductible, you will never go wrong helping an innocent animal. These animals are depending on your help for survival! We have our office trailer at Borderland on Corridor "G" highway 119. Please remember that we are NOT a full-fledged animal shelter and right now, we need a few MORE foster homes to help us get the animals off of the streets. If you or anyone you know could help us foster until they can find a permanant home, please contact us immediately! Vicky Lipps: 304-235-2854

Ok , so here is what is going on with S.O.S Animal Shelter right now. If we can't get some people to help out, we will have to completely shut down until spring.
We need some man power down there,
Mia’s house had cracked and broken. The top had fallen off, and her straw was soaking wet. Does anyone have an igloo house to donate. 😬
The dogs have chewed the door fencing loose on 3 of the top kennels, the dogs can get out of them. We zip tied one of them together and put Mia back up there: cause she has no house in her lot now. I hope it holds her.
There is a nice big Igloo house in one of the other kennels tore up kennels , it could be cleaned and moved over to her lot. It’s just too big for me to move… I’m kinda old and weak, just can’t move it by myself.
The ramp going up to the top kennels need some salt melt on them, (very slick) .
The water isn’t frozen, just turned off under the trailer. You have to carry it out to the dogs in a 5 gal bucket.
😳
Is there anybody that could repair the gates to the top cages, and move the dog house to Mia’s run? It would help a lot!
We really appreciate the ones that have been helping to feed, but we are really struggling right now. Still no money from FEMA or we could hire it done! Still not even got plastic up for underpinning either. We need a miracle, please pray! 🙏

Sorry to be asking again, but we really need help raising the rest of the money we owe to Matt's Mobile Home Movers. He moved our "free" trailers for us and we have only paid him 1/2 of his money. We were promised that it would be covered, since we had the 501 C-3 not-for-profit number and they could take it off their taxes. So far, only $1,000 was donated to us. We still owe Matt $5,000, and he needs his money NOW. I am challenging every person, business, county official, lawyers and doctors to dig deep and donate whatever you can. No amount is too small. Without our animal Rescue, the county will be over-ran with stray and abandoned animals. Long post but we need everyone's help to stay open. Now we are faced with raising our building 2 1/2 MORE feet to be in compliance. PLEASE, help by donating whatever you can. Thank you and may God always Bless our MINGO COUNTY citizens!

Our Story

S.O.S. (Save Our Strays) is a non-profit organization consisting of officers, board members and foster parents. There is no HUMANE SOCIETY or ANIMAL SHELTER in Mingo County, but we do have a "dog catcher" that will pick up animals and bring them to us so we can transport them to larger facilities. At S.O.S., we take pride in the fact that we ARE helping these animals and we are not going to GIVE UP on them. Thanks for your support!!

Our goal is to have a safe place to keep abandoned or stray animals until we can find a home for them. We believe that ALL animals deserve a chance to survive and find a "forever" home! If we can save even ONE animal from being put to sleep without a reason, then we have accomplished our goal. *Your donation is tax-deductible and you will never go wrong helping an innocent animal that some other human being has dumped out beside of the highway and left to starve. These animals are depending on your help for survival! We have our office trailer at Borderland on Corridor "G" highway 119. We have an agreement with a nice couple from Ohio who is living there and taking care of the animals that we get in case of an emergency situation.

Please remember that we are NOT a full-fledged animal shelter and right now, we need a few MORE foster homes to help us get the animals off of the streets. If you or anyone you know could help us foster until they can find a forever home, please contact us immediately!
