🐾❤️ Meet Mojo (left) and Mongo (right), two little Chihuahuas with a BIG story and an even bigger happy ending! 🥹

These sweet pups arrived at Heritage Humane Society with several other Chihuahuas after being rescued from a hoarding situation in another municipality. They were scared, confused, and unsure of what their futures would hold. Our team gave them the love, patience, and reassurance they needed to begin feeling safe again.

Fast forward just a few days, and BOTH boys have been ADOPTED! 🎉🏡

But wait… the story gets even better!

Their new families just happen to be BEST FRIENDS! ❤️

That's right! Mojo and Mongo not only found loving homes, but they'll also get to continue being part of each other's lives. Two best buddies, two wonderful families, and a whole lot of love!

These are the happy endings that make our hearts so full. We couldn't be more excited for Mojo, Mongo, and their lucky new families!

🐾❤️ A Fond Farewell and Best Wishes to Kieran! 🥰

Our HHS team recently gathered to celebrate Kieran and send him off with lots of love and well wishes as he begins his next adventure!

For the past 2.5 years, Kieran has served as our Operations & Facilities Manager, making a lasting impact on our shelter, our team, and the animals in our care. From improving our facility and strengthening our programs to helping countless families find their perfect furry companions, Kieran has made a difference in so many ways.

One of the most special milestones we had the privilege of celebrating during his time with us was Kieran becoming an American citizen! 🇺🇸 What an incredible accomplishment, and we were so proud to share in that moment with him.

Kieran's friendly, personable approach and genuine care for people and pets have made him a valued member of our HHS family. And the best news? This isn't goodbye! We're thrilled that Kieran plans to continue supporting our mission as a foster and volunteer. 🐶🐱

Please join us in thanking Kieran for his dedication, hard work, and the many lives he has touched along the way.

Some traditions just make the holiday season feel extra special, and our 26th Annual Holiday Bazaar is certainly one of them! ❤️

There's something magical about seeing our community come together year after year to kick off the holiday season. The festive atmosphere, the wonderful people, the beautiful gifts, and the spirit of giving make it feel like you've stepped right into a Hallmark Christmas movie! 🎅🎁

And the best part? It's all for the love of homeless pets! 🐾❤️

Our incredibly talented and dedicated Heritage Humane Society Auxiliary volunteers have been hard at work creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind treasures for this year's Bazaar! From festive decorations to thoughtful handmade gifts, you'll find so many special items that will make your holiday gift-giving stand out. We are SO grateful for the countless hours, creativity, and love these amazing volunteers pour into making this event such a cherished Williamsburg tradition!

Meet Punky, a little survivor with a BIG personality!

Found alone on a sidewalk at just 5 ounces, this once-fragile kitten has blossomed into a playful, affectionate little diva with a talent you won't believe. She plays FETCH! Well, with a toy mouse, anyway. Her original favorite wore out, and five replacements later, she's still holding out for the perfect match.

Punky loves bird-watching, chirping at squirrels, cozy heated blankets and hanging out with her feline friends. She's overcome so much with the help of her village, and now she's ready for her fur-ever family.

Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick have made a stop on their world tour, and rumor has it… they’re ready to park that tour bus FOREVER! 🚌❤️

Milo is a 2.5-year-old mixed-breed boy who is neutered and ready to find his forever home! 🏡💙

According to his foster family, Milo is a curious, affectionate guy who wants to be wherever his people are. He loves hanging out on the couch, cuddling, and soaking up all the love he can get. 🥰

He’s also an excellent walking buddy! Milo is amazing on leash and loves going on long walks where he can take his time sniffing and exploring everything along the way. 👃🐕

And when it comes to training, Milo is a star! ⭐ He’s very easy to train and has already been learning to go into his crate when asked.

🎉 BRIE FOUND HER FOREVER HOME! 🎉🐾

We have some extra-special happy news to share—Brie has been adopted! 🏡❤️

This sweet 1.5-year-old mixed-breed girl had quite the journey to get here. Brie was featured on the Hampton Roads Show during “Clear the Shelters,” and then her adoption was sponsored by Williamsburg Jewelers. We were so hopeful that her happily-ever-after was right around the corner.

But shortly after the show, Brie faced a scary setback when she came down with pneumonia. 💔 She had a tough road to recovery, but this brave girl fought hard, got healthy, and never gave up.

And now… she has her forever home! 🥹🎉

From being showcased on television, to battling pneumonia, to finally heading home with her forever family—Brie’s story is one of resilience, hope, and second chances. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Brie along the way, to The Hampton Roads Show and the “Clear the Shelters” team, to Williamsburg Jewelers, and especially to the family who saw this special girl and knew she belonged with them. 🐾

Happy tails, Brie! You fought hard for this happy ending, and we couldn't be more excited for you! 💕🏡

💙 Meet Lucy! 💙

Lucy is a 5-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart who is ready to find her next chapter—and her foster family has nothing but wonderful things to say about her! 🥰

“What a good girl!” is the perfect way to describe Lucy. She has been a fantastic houseguest and is smart, loving, housebroken, and great with children. Her foster family says their kids can get her to sit and shake, and Lucy hasn’t met a person she doesn’t immediately love! ❤️

🏡 Lucy is comfortable in a home and has done well being left alone for several hours. She may occasionally find something that smells like her people to keep close, but there has been minimal destruction.

🧻 She has one very important hobby: toilet paper and paper towel rolls! 😂

🔔 She appears to only bark when someone rings the doorbell.

🍽️ Even though she’s very interested when people are eating, she hasn’t been a counter or tabletop food thief!

Her foster family thinks Lucy could be a wonderful fit for a family, couple, or individual, especially someone with an enclosed backyard where she can enjoy plenty of outdoor run-around time.

And if you’re a fan of cuddles… Lucy is your girl. 🥹💕
