(2/2) For twelve years, my showing life and existence as I know it has included this magnificent beast. He is my Constant and identity ( anyone?). Until you experience it for yourself, it is not possible to truly convey what it feels like to get on a horse and just know every single thing there is to know about them.
You know his shape and cadence.
His rhythm. His breath.
The feel of the course before you even jump it.
Bally, you are the other half of my soul 🤍
I’m babbling because I’m trying to convince myself to wrap it up. Few riders get to enjoy the privilege of retiring a sound horse who could easily continue for years (Hey, if you’ve met Bally, you know this is MORE than entirely plausible).
But how could I ask him? This horse owes. me. nothing. I owe him everything. He was the first horse I ever developed to 1.60m level; a quirky - and occasionally feral - but featherlight powerhouse that could jump whatever I needed him to. The most reliable partner I could ever deserve. As he heads into this 20th year, I’m claiming that would get repetitive to do more (I mean, what is his career missing?) It was a fairy tail ending to close out his career once again representing Team Canada (Vejer de la Frontera 3-0*)
Balintore. BML Balia NL. Bally… you deserve this beyond any horse I know. Enjoy your retirement. Enjoy every single moment. Your sparkling and stalwart presence will be sorely missed at the shows. I adore you beyond all. 🥰
Thank you to every single person that contributed to this special horse’s wonderful career!
