One of the hardest parts of being a groomer who genuinely cares is knowing that, no matter how much love, patience, and caution I put into my work, not every moment is going to be perfect. ❤️🩹
We work with living, breathing animals who have fears, feelings, boundaries, and minds of their own. And sometimes, despite our very best efforts, things don't go the way we hoped.
And when they don't, it hurts. ❤️🩹
The hardest part isn't necessarily the moment itself. It's knowing that you can't explain to an animal that you never mean to make them uncomfortable or afraid and cant always take away that reoccurring feeling from that past, from them. You can't tell them how sorry you are when something doesn't go as planned or didnt prior. You can't explain that their trust means more to you than they'll ever understand, or any dollar amount.
You can only continue showing them through your actions.
I think that's something people don't always see about this profession. The emotional weight that comes with caring so deeply. The moments you replay in your head long after the last dog has gone home. The responsibility you feel for creatures who depend on you to make their experience as safe and comfortable as possible.
I know perfection isn't realistic. I know even the most patient, gentle approach won't make every moment easy for every animal, unfortunately 🥺
But knowing that doesn't make those moments any easier on the heart.
Because to me, they're not just appointments on a schedule. They're little souls who trust me, and that trust is something I'll never take lightly.
And perhaps one of the hardest lessons in this profession for me is learning to give myself the same grace and patience I give the animals in my care.
Some of us really REALLY do care guys, and it extends even when the work day is over. There are many days that we break at the end. Your animal professionals are really in the heart trenches sometimes 🥺🥹 ❤️🐾
