🐾 WICHITA DOG PARK FAVORITES! 🐾

Who says our pups can’t have a little weekend adventure?! 🐶💨 We’re sharing some of our favorite spots around the Wichita area where your furry friends can run, play, sniff, and make some new friends! 💕

🌳 K-9 Rooster Dog Park – A Wichita favorite with fenced off-leash areas and plenty of room for your pup to stretch their legs!

🐕 Murfin Dog Park – Multiple fenced areas, water stations, shaded seating, and lots of space for off-leash fun.

🌿 Harrison Dog Park at W.B. Harrison Park – A great option with separate areas for different-sized dogs, plus agility equipment and plenty of park space to explore.

🌞 Chapin Dog Park – A spacious off-leash area with separate areas for large and small pups and plenty of room to get those zoomies out!

💦 Decarsky Dog Park in Derby – Worth the short drive! This park features agility equipment, separate play areas, and even a pond for water-loving pups. 🐾

And of course, always bring water, waste bags, a leash, and keep an eye on your pup while they play! Dog park rules and hours can change, so be sure to check before heading out. 🐶💚

This month at Lavish Mutts, we’re putting the spotlight on a super useful trick: CENTER! 🐶💕

“Center” teaches your pup to come between your legs and settle into position. It’s a fun trick that can also help build focus, confidence, body awareness, and trust between you and your pup! 🐕👏

🎯 How to practice:
Start with your dog in front of you and use a treat to guide them between your legs. Once they’re in the right position, say “Center!”, reward them, and repeat! With a little practice, your pup will start understanding the cue without needing as much guidance. 🦴✨

Remember: keep training sessions short, positive, and FUN! ❤️

🐾🍪 DIY DOG TREAT RECOMMENDATIONS! 🍪🐾

Looking for a fun way to spoil your lavish mutt at home? 🐶💕 Homemade treats can be a great way to give your pup something special while knowing exactly what ingredients are going into their snack!

Here are a few easy favorites to try:

🥜 Peanut Butter Pup Bites
Mix together plain pumpkin, xylitol-free peanut butter, eggs, and a little whole wheat or oat flour. Roll, cut, and bake!

🎃 Pumpkin Oat Treats
Pumpkin + oats + egg = a simple, pup-approved combination! Perfect for making bite-sized cookies.

🍌 Banana & Peanut Butter Bites
Mash a ripe banana with xylitol-free peanut butter and oats, then bake until firm. Your pup may be waiting by the oven! 😂

🍎 Apple Pup Bites
Finely chopped apple (WITHOUT seeds or core) mixed with oats and pumpkin makes a tasty treat!

🧊 Frozen Yogurt Treats
Mix plain, unsweetened yogurt with pumpkin or dog-safe fruit and freeze in small molds for a refreshing summer snack! ☀️🐾

✨ A few important reminders:
- Always double-check that every ingredient is dog-safe.
- Avoid chocolate, grapes/raisins, onions, garlic, macadamia nuts, and anything containing xylitol (also called birch sugar).

- Treats should also be given in moderation and be appropriate for your pup's size and dietary needs.
