Today is a reminder that so many wonderful dogs and cats in our community are still waiting for a place to call home. If you've been thinking about adding a furry family member, consider visiting one of our amazing local shelters or rescue organizations, like the Kansas Humane Society or Beauties & Beasts. You just might meet your new best friend. ❤️

Already adopted your perfect companion? We'd love to celebrate International Homeless Animals Day with you!

Share a photo of your rescue pet and tell us their story in the comments.

Every adoption gives a deserving pet a second chance and helps make room for another animal in need. Thank you for supporting our local shelters and the incredible work they do every day.

Meet Hammy Ham Felix Jamón!

Hammy came to us as a stray after a kind Good Samaritan brought him in, hoping he could get the care he needed before returning to his outdoor colony. During his exam, we discovered he is FIV positive.

While cats with FIV should be indoor only and the only cat in the home to help prevent spreading the virus, they can still live long, healthy, happy lives with the right care.

Hammy stole quite a few hearts while he was here (much to Chester’s dismay). What was supposed to be a foster quickly turned into a foster fail, and thanks to the kindness of the Good Samaritan who brought him in, Dr. Brittany, and our tech Giselle, Hammy never has to go back outside.

Now he’s living the good life: safe, spoiled, and comfortable. Exactly where he’s meant to be. ❤️

Happy National Cat Day! 🐾

📚🍎 Back-to-school season is here! Pet safety is important for every family member here are some tips!

If your child has classmates over after school, take a moment to introduce them to your pets. Not every child knows how to safely interact with animals, and a supervised introduction helps everyone start off on the right paw.

During morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups, it's easy for our pets to slip outside. Keep your pets safely secured around open doors, and make sure their microchip information is current.

Here's to a school year full of new friends, great memories, and plenty of tail wags waiting at the front door when the school day is done! 🐾❤️

Heatstroke can happen fast. As temperatures rise, it's important to keep a close eye on your pets. Heatstroke can occur in just minutes and can quickly become life-threatening.

Watch for signs such as:
Excessive panting
Drooling
Weakness or lethargy
Vomiting or diarrhea
Bright red gums
Collapse

Remember:
💧 Always provide fresh water
🌳 Limit activity during the hottest parts of the day
🏠 Make sure your pet has access to shade or air conditioning
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked car

If you think your pet may be experiencing heatstroke, seek veterinary care immediately.

Stay safe and enjoy the summer! ☀️🐶🐱
