🐾✂️ Family favors come in all shapes and sizes… and sometimes they involve tail amputations! 😅
This week, Dr. Fawcett had the unique opportunity to perform surgery on a very special patient—her parents’ dog, Bodi! ❤️
Bodi was suffering from a condition commonly known as “Happy Tail.” While the name sounds cute, it can actually be a frustrating and painful problem. Happy Tail occurs when a dog’s tail repeatedly hits hard surfaces like walls, furniture, kennels, or door frames during enthusiastic wagging. Over time, the constant trauma can cause open wounds, bleeding, infection, and chronic pain that simply won’t heal.
Despite our best efforts with bandaging and medical management, some cases become so severe that the best solution is a tail amputation to eliminate the source of the injury and improve the dog’s quality of life.
We’re happy to report that Bodi’s surgery went smoothly, and he’s already on his way to recovery! 🐕💙 While he may be missing part of his tail, we’re pretty sure it won’t slow down his enthusiasm for life—or his wagging spirit!
Join us in wishing Bodi a speedy recovery! 🎉
