🐾✂️ Family favors come in all shapes and sizes… and sometimes they involve tail amputations! 😅

This week, Dr. Fawcett had the unique opportunity to perform surgery on a very special patient—her parents’ dog, Bodi! ❤️

Bodi was suffering from a condition commonly known as “Happy Tail.” While the name sounds cute, it can actually be a frustrating and painful problem. Happy Tail occurs when a dog’s tail repeatedly hits hard surfaces like walls, furniture, kennels, or door frames during enthusiastic wagging. Over time, the constant trauma can cause open wounds, bleeding, infection, and chronic pain that simply won’t heal.

Despite our best efforts with bandaging and medical management, some cases become so severe that the best solution is a tail amputation to eliminate the source of the injury and improve the dog’s quality of life.

We’re happy to report that Bodi’s surgery went smoothly, and he’s already on his way to recovery! 🐕💙 While he may be missing part of his tail, we’re pretty sure it won’t slow down his enthusiasm for life—or his wagging spirit!

Join us in wishing Bodi a speedy recovery! 🎉

Today is a bittersweet day for our team as we say “see you later” to one of our very special employees, Emma. ❤️

Over the last year, we have had the privilege of watching Emma grow into an incredible young woman, and we could not be more proud of everything she has accomplished. Emma earned her cosmetology license a few years ago and is continuing to chase her dreams while enrolled in online school to become an RVT (registered veterinary technician). Her ambition, dedication, and work ethic are truly inspiring.

Emma is one of the kindest, most genuine, and wonderful people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. She has never had a bad word to say about anyone and cares for every patient as if they were her own. The compassion she shows every single day does not go unnoticed, and our clinic has been a better place because of her.

Selfishly, we are all absolutely devastated to see her leave. But more than anything, we are excited for her and know this new adventure will be a better fit for her as she continues to focus on school and her future. We are praying this path eventually leads her right back to us someday.

Emma, thank you for everything you have given to our team, our clients, and our patients. We are incredibly grateful to have been blessed with you in our facility, and we hope everyone joins us in wishing you nothing but success, happiness, and endless opportunities in this next chapter of your life. We love you and will miss you dearly. 🐾✨

Emma’s last day at East Douglas will be next Friday, May 29th.

Happy Birthday to Dr. Mattas! 🎉🐾

Today we’re celebrating someone who brings so much heart, compassion, and joy to our team every single day. We are beyond grateful to have Dr. Mattas as part of the East Douglas Veterinary Clinic family. Her kindness toward every patient, client, and coworker never goes unnoticed, and the warmth and positivity she brings into the clinic creates a completely unique and uplifting vibe that everyone feels the moment they walk through the door.

Dr. Mattas, your compassionate care and joyful spirit make such a difference in the lives of so many pets and people. We hope you were absolutely spoiled rotten today — because you deserve every bit of it! 💖🎂

🩺🐾 Radiograph Challenge Time! 🐾🩺

We’ve posted a radiograph of a female cat who came in for emergency surgery—and we want to hear what you think!

Here’s what we saw on presentation:
▪️ Lethargy
▪️ Decreased appetite
▪️ Fever
▪️ Distended abdomen

🤔 So… what’s your guess? What could be going on here?

Drop your thoughts in the comments below ⬇️ (No peeking at Dr. Google—just your best guess!)

We’ll share the answer and outcome later—this one was a great reminder of how quickly things can change and why prompt care matters.

Life happens… and sometimes it happens fast (and a little chaotically 😅).

At East Douglas Veterinary Clinic, we’re here for all of it—
✔️ Same-day appointments when things just can’t wait
✔️ Foreign body surprises (because of course they ate that)
✔️ That random toe vs. lawn mower incident 🫣
✔️ Pug eyes that met a coffee table a little too hard
✔️ And those “he started it!” dog fights
And the random ma*****na ingestion

Basically, if it’s stressful, unexpected, or makes you say “HOW did this even happen?!”—we’ve got you.

No judgment. Just help.

📞 Call us at 316-687-0136 if you need us—we’d love to help you and your pet get back on track

And wow — you all seriously understood the assignment! 👏 Big Mac is officially a mix of FIVE different breeds (yes, five!!), which makes him 100% unique and 1000% lovable.
We had so much fun seeing everyone’s guesses, and honestly… y’all did AMAZING. Like, scary accurate in some cases 😄 Because everyone did such a great job, we’re putting together a little prize for each person who participated — we’ll be reaching out soon with the details!
Thanks for playing along and showing Big Mac so much love ❤️ Stay tuned for the full breed breakdown!
