So happy we took the risk and gave Skye a chance after her accident. We
had the spineal surgery for Skye. We didn't know if she would survive and if she did if she would walk again. Tuesday will be 6 weeks. She's doing fantastic! She's back defending the backyard with Rosie.

We want to thank everybody who has been praying for our girl Skye. Four weeks ago today she was seriously injured in a freak backyard accident. Her recovery from spinal surgery has been remarkable. Today I let her briefly enjoy her favorite game for the 1st time since the accident. Granted it wasn't the fast pace she loves and I only rolled the ball twice for her and had her wait till it stopped before letting her get it but she enjoyed it and didn't want to come back inside. She loves it in the air with wicked hops that she catches in the air. I'm sure someday soon she will be able to play her favorite game the way she loves too. You can also see in the video her incision is healing nicely.

Just a couple Pudelpointers taking a afternoon nap. Rosie has missed being outside running with Skye.

Skye's journey to recovery. Today is day 16. The K-State vet gave her a 50/50 chance to ever walk again. Look at her now! She can walk by herself for brief moments. She still needs limited activity. Basically she can get up to go potty and standing for a few minutes. If you know the breed you know how difficult this is to keep her from over doing it.

Skye's journey to recovery!
Skye is walking better every day, she is struggling with her balance but is still heavily medicated . This video is just under two weeks after her spineal surgery.

Skye journey continues. She has continued to improve and let's us know when she needs to potty outside. Her injury occurred early morning April 14 that originally paralyzed both rear legs. This video is just a day after getting her urinary catheter out. She is urinating without our help, we are so pleased with her progress.

Days 8 and 9 of Skye's journey

Tuesday morning we both woke up with the bug that's going around and Skye still needed cared for. Fortunately our son-n-law was kind enough to take Rosie our other Pudelpointer to work at our office for the next two days as Rosie is quite active when at home. Skye is continuing to show progress each day with her rear leg movement but is having trouble balancing herself. She is now urinating daily and having regular bowel movements both without our assistance except helping with her balance. Tuesday evening as we were going back in the house from our evening backyard walk Melinda went in first and headed for the bedroom Skye started after her in almost a run, I had to double time it to keep up with her holding harness.

Day 7 of Skye's journey
Monday morning,
K-State had told us this will be an eight week bedrest process and then several more weeks house rest. They also told us this could take up to two years for Sky to recover, they also told us that she will never fully recover to what her life was like before her injury.
Skye had her first real bowel movement Monday morning, this was quite difficult for her under her circumstances with her rear legs but she did fine.
The other exciting news for Monday was we found a vet who came to our house to remove the catheter, she also showed us how to express her bladder to help her urinate if needed.

Day 6 in Skye's journey

Sunday, Skye is still heavily medicated for pain, antibiotics and anxiety. She has been eating pretty well, still has the catheter in and no bowel movements since her injury. The morning went pretty uneventful but Sunday afternoon brought much excitement to us. First, she pooped a small t**d on her bed, this was not much but the first in six days. Then, on her afternoon walk we noticed she was moving her rear left leg in a walking moving, not perfect but progress that we were so excited to see.
