Momo has been at KHS since 8/16, over two months now. She isnt available to go to the adoption floor due to stress. She hisses when staff comes to her kennwl but would give high pitch meows. Staff is able to pet her and she would start making air biscuits, she is very sweet and loving, but nervous and needs slow introductions. She has now started pacing in her kennel, and stress meowing. She has grown tired of being confided and too stressed for the adoption environment.

Skye was surrendered by her owners for unknown reasons on 10/12. She is a senior cat at 10 years and 7 months old, but her owner surrender paperwork states they've had her for 12 years, and she weighs 10lbs. She has some sores on her legs. She is hissy and not wanting anything to do with staff, and she hasnt been eating. She doesnt do well around dogs, and scared of kids. In her home, she was isolated to the bathroom due to being attacked and messed with, they want to find a better home life for her and theyre moving. She does sniff the cat hand, and sniff churu but is not sure if she wants it. Getting out of the shelter might do some wonders on her.

Kitty is a one year old female and weighs 9lbs. Kitty was laying on her kuranda bed near the front of the kennel when staff came to see her. She would low growl as they stood in front of her, and would continue to growl and grumble as they unlocked her kennel. When offered the cat hand with churu she sniffed and gobbled down the churu with no hesitation. But when petting her with the cat hand she would still low growl and swatted the cat hand. Her behavior has not gotten better and may improve outside the shelter.

Rodney could use your help

Rodney was underneath the kuranda bed, loafed with his tail wrapped, eyes heavily dilated and body very tense. Assessor offered the cat hand, which he did glance at but did not give any sniffs to. Churu was offered on the handle of the cat hand with the same response. Assessor stepped away from the kennel and when they came back, Rodney had jumped up on top of the kuranda bed. He was near the back of the bed, pressing up against the wall, very tense bodied. Assessor pulled a chair up to the kennel, offering the cat their hand. He did look at it, but never made an attempt to give sniffs. Assessor was able to pet him with their hand, Rodney freezing up some while lowering his head and closing his eyes. He did allow pets a couple times, moving away when assessor would stop. He continued to stay very tense and stiff, never seeming that comfortable with interaction. He remains fairly shut down and nervous after a couple days and assessors believe long term that the shelter environment will not be good for him.

This gray kitten has been pretty tense at the shelter. He has been sitting tightly tucked with dilated eyes. When offered the cat hand and churu, he moved to the other side of the kennel. They pet the kitten and he didn’t have any reaction. He ran to the corner of the kennel when the stool was removed from the kennel. He is about 10 months old.

These three cats came in together, they are undersocialized, but not able to defend themselves to be barn cats. When staff went to assess them, The calico was on top of the stool when assessor started interacting with them but started to jump off of the stool to get away. There was a black and white kitten that had their head out from under the stool but quickly ducked under when assessor tried to offer the cat hand. Calico was completely avoidant of the cat hand, even with churu on it. The black and white kitten was very interested in churu and started chowing down on it. Assessor was able to pet both kittens with the cat hand. The white and black kitten under the stool still was completely uninterested in coming out from under the stool. They stayed hunkered in the back corner, not eating any churu and avoidant of the cat hand. The calico did begin eating churu once it was on the newspaper, and the black and white one continued to eat churu. Assessor attempted to pet both kittens with their hand multiple times but both were highly avoidant. The black and white kitten was most engaged with the churu but even still would pull away and hiss whenever assessor attempted to touch them.

Atticus has had a rough time at the shelter. He has had multiple bouts of inappetence since arriving. He was treated with gabapentin and mirtazapine but has started not eating again. CBC/Chemistry panel came back with normal readings. He has been showing some signs of stress during interactions. He has allowed pets and given headbutts and made biscuits when staff interacts. He is very sweet, but still has times where he won’t eat. He would benefit from being in a home of his own.
