Willow is looking for a special low stress home

🆘❌A41927510– RESCUE PULL❌🆘

Willow is an 8 year old girl who unfortanely has FIV, but dont fear, with low stress and yearly exams she can live a long life. She has lived with other animals, but is stressed around other animals, so she would thrive as an only cat. Willow is mellow in demeanor and very affectionate and sweet. She has a body condition score of 8 out of 9, but does have some dental disease, heavy tartar and gum recession on top molars, probably needing extractions.

Many rescues allow foster to adopt RESCUE PULL ONLY cats but need an approved application and we must follow state guidelines that are enforced by the Kansas Board of Agriculture. This includes the applicant’s animals being up to date on vaccinations and altered.

**Fosters/Adopters reach out to a rescue you are affiliated with ASAP or send us an application to a rescue and contact them to see if they will allow these guidelines. We can also put you in touch with many rescuers who will assist and help with foster to adopts.

We have a list of many rescuers who would be willing to assist or are needing fosters to assist. If you are not in the Wichita vicinity, we will put you in touch with the closest rescue who will assist at this shelter.

Scaredy cat needs a break from the stress

🆘❌A190904– DIRECT ADOPT/RESCUE PULL❌🆘

Cat was underneath the stool, loafed with limbs tucked, body very tense and pupils blown out. The cat hand was offered through the kennel bars, the cat's eyes widening and them backing away. Churu was offered on the handle of the cat hand, which they looked at but didn't eat. The churu was wiped on the towel, the cat staring at it. They did start to move for the churu but shifted back when assessor moved some. The cat would skin crawl with heavy breaths when pet along the head and back, moving further back underneath the stool.

Cat trembling in fear

Cat was on their stool, at the back of the kennel, eyes blown, ears and body tense. Cat gave sniffs to the cat hand and started to tremble. Was uninterested in churu. Assessor was able to pet cat with the cat hand and they stayed frozen, shaking and skin crawling. Assessor tried offering the churu from the tube and cat was still uninterested. Assessor tried offering their hand but cat would just stare and tremble.

Sassy girl is just scared and nervous

When staff approached kennel cat was crouched behind litter box, ears sideways, ans pupils dilated. When staff went to take pictures, she spit, hissed and growled. She came in with a collar, and suspect shes just afraid and nervous.

Scared boy not sure what's in store for him

This guy was in the middle of the kennel, eyes blown, ears tense, hair along back raised, and tail fluffed. They sniffed the cat hand but cat hissed, staff offered churu on cat hand but cat was uninterested. They were able to pet them with cat hand. They offered churu from the tube and he gobbled it down, but staff didnt feel comfortable petting him with their hand.

This trio of kittens are Cuphead, Ms Chalice and Mugman, who are 2 months and 16 days old. There are two boys and a girl who average 2.4 lbs. They unfortunately have symptoms of an upper respiratory infection and need pulled by a rescue overlooked by a vet first.

Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer were initially adopted from Kansas Humane Society in the beginning of 2025, they are a bonded pair. They are a month shy of being 2 years old, and very large boys weighing 16 lbs. Owner surrendered Huckleberry and Tom due to moving out of state. They were both very vocal and voicing their thoughts on intake, and before adopted they were undersocialized and scared boys. They are very nervous, stressed and scared, all the emotions.

This calico kitty is labeled as a male, William. Kitty is said to have gingivitis and gum recession. William is showing body condition score 3/9 with mucous membranes pink and moist, normal hydration, and heart and lungs in normal limits.

This guy came in a couple days ago, he has a body condition score of 2 out of 9, he has some hair loss/thin hair coat. He has scabs throughout his head, he appeared to be dehydrated and doesnt feel well. He didnt move when staff offered him the cat hand, skin crawling as well. Staff tried petting and alternating between cat hand and their hand petting them, but cat would back away and stare at assessors hand when they petted them.

This kitty was very scared, laying under the stool with eyes dilated and tensed up. The staff offered churu but cat showed no interest. They pet the cat along the back and the cat started hissing. They continued to pet and the cat continued to hiss, eventually swatting the cat hand.
