In parts of Italy, street cats are getting some extra kindness thanks to a simple idea that turns public spaces into cozy spots for them. As reported by I Am Italian, a number of towns and cities have started adding small shelters under park benches, each with dry cushions inside and bowls for food and water.

These little hideaways give the cats a warm, protected place to rest and a steady source of care, all while fitting in naturally with the look of the streets. It is a quiet but clear sign of Italy’s long-standing respect for animals and its effort to live alongside them peacefully.
