It is not a political or debating forum. If you have helpful ideas, we are all about that. If you have specific questions, issues or concerns, please contact the Shelter directly. If you choose to post false accusations, trash or abuse The Humane Society (or any one else for that matter), we will delete your post and probably ban you. It is that simple. It takes the focus off the animals. It is a volunteer run page and we are not at the shelter. This page is dedicated to the animals ****residing at, or in the care of**** the Humane Society of Wichita County. Our goal is to place them in loving, adoptive, forever homes. All of our animals are fully vettedWe are happy to answer any questions we can and especially happy to post lost and found animals, as we want all animals safely home. ****We cannot post “free” animals and certainly none for sale.**** We are animal advocates. We are not a part of the City or Animal Control but the number to Animal Control is: 940.761.7824. We are also not a part of P.E.T.S, low cost Spay & Neuter but we are often asked for that number. It is (940) 723-7387Note**We are not a vet clinic. We encourage all pet owners to establish and maintain a relationship with a full service veterinarian.

In just the last 2 days, we’ve taken in 22 dogs and cats, and we still have 5 more starving animals in a backyard who need our help.
Our shelter is filling up, and the need is greater than ever. Every adoption opens up space for another animal who desperately needs a safe place, a full belly, and a second chance at life.
If you’ve been thinking about adopting, NOW is the time! There are so many wonderful dogs and cats waiting for someone to choose them. You could be the reason an animal’s story has a happy ending.

ADOPT ONE. SAVE TWO. ❤️

When you adopt, you’re not just saving the life of the animal you take home. You’re helping us make room for another animal who needs to be rescued.
Please visit the Humane Society of Wichita County, share this post, and help us spread the word. You may not be able to save them all, but together, we can save so many more. 🐾

Popcorn may be tiny, but don't let that fool you. This little Chihuahua has an opinion about EVERYTHING, and by golly, she expects everyone to hear it! She walks into a room with the attitude of someone who wants to speak to the manager… only to discover SHE IS THE MANAGER! The staff? Clearly incompetent. The customers? All under review. And the service? Probably not up to her standards. Are you looking for a tiny supervisor to oversee your household, judge your life choices, and keep you humble? Someone who will make all the rules and occasionally allow you to live in HER house?

And then there's Astrid. She's kind of like the Charlie Brown kid that's always dirty. Always has a bad hair day, doesn't really care what other dog's think because she loves everyone. She has that "skip da de do" kinda attitude.

Doesn't everyone have a Jeff in the family? Ya know the one kid that doesn't quite get it. Can't take more than one task at a time. Bumps into glass, tries to walk in on the wrong side of the door. Well, here's your Jeff!

This beautiful girl is Azura. She is still in the puppy stage of her life at 2 months. So whatever is on the floor, she is going to chew on it. Everything is fair game.

Unlike Peter Pan’s shadow, Herbie takes his job VERY seriously. He will NEVER leave you, and you will never have to hunt him down. Forget personal space, folks. Herbie has no idea what that is!
Cooking dinner? He’s your sous chef. 🧑‍🍳
Cleaning the house? He’s your supervisor.
Watching TV? He’s your cuddle buddy.
Eating? He’s your quality control inspector. 👀
Going to the bathroom? Yep, he’s on security detail.
Standing in the closet trying to figure out what to wear? He’s your fashion consultant.
At 3 years old, that's job security!

Okay, Gus might be a few screws loose, a few fries short, and a day late and a dollar short. I'm not sure what all is going on up there, but I think it's something akin to the jeopardy music playing...slowly. He's as loyal as can be and always has your six...but also your three. This sweet boy is very friendly and likes a good lap to sit in.
