Itโ€™s been a little too quiet around here lately, and we figured it was time for a little update! โœจ

The last several weeks have looked very different around Rising J. Miranda has been recovering from a C-section, and unfortunately the recovery has been a little longer and more difficult than we had hoped. Add in bringing a brand new little cowboy home and adjusting to life as a family of three, and things have definitely been moving at a slower pace around here!

But weโ€™re healing, settling into our new normal, and starting to look forward to getting back to the horses. ๐Ÿด

Next week weโ€™ll slowly be working our way back into lessons, and Tuesday the 29th is our first meeting for the new Hill Riders Equine 4-H Club here in Hill County. We are so excited to see where that new adventure takes us!

And with a new season of life comes some changes at Rising J, too. We are still here, still doing what we love, and still very much passionate about horses and helping our riders growโ€”but Rising J may look a little different moving forward.

Right now, family is our biggest priority. Weโ€™re intentionally slowing down a little, doing what we can, and giving ourselves some room to enjoy this season instead of trying to keep up with everything weโ€™ve always done.

We have some exciting things ahead, and weโ€™ll be sharing more as we settle into this new chapter.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us, check in on us, be patient with us, and cheer us on through all of lifeโ€™s changes. We are incredibly grateful.

Hereโ€™s to a new season at Rising J. ๐Ÿดโค๏ธ

We ๐Ÿ’™ IEA

IEA coaches don't just build riders.
They build the kids who become them.

For 25 years, the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) has been introducing young riders to draw-based (catch-ride) team equestrian sport.
But beyond building riding skills, IEA also provides unique opportunities to build leadership talents, exercise outstanding sportsmanship, hone good horsemanship practices, and establish lifelong friendships.
IEA has infused the equestrian industry with literally thousands of young athletes who have gone on to become leaders in and out of the saddle across all professions.
And nothing makes us prouder than to see an IEA Alum become an IEA Coach - teaching the next generation those same life skills.

Join us this season as IEA celebrates a quarter-century of teamwork.
As a coach. As a rider. As an official.
IEA is where the future of equestrian sport begins.

A good broke horse will only stay a good broke horse if the hands riding him keep him that way.

A horse left to take advantage, push boundaries, or develop bad habits with inexperienced hands will quickly learn that he can continue to do those things with the rider on his back. Eventually, what started as a small issue becomes the horseโ€™s normal.

Just like a finely tuned instrument, a good horse needs to be tuned back up from time to time.

We all wantโ€”or sometimes needโ€”that good broke โ€œkidโ€ horse or โ€œhusbandโ€ horse. But if we donโ€™t learn how to maintain the standard and keep that horse tuned to our needs, eventually we may find ourselves calling him a โ€œproblemโ€ horse.

When, in reality, the responsibility falls on usโ€”the rider.

And that lesson goes both ways. Even the most experienced horsemen need help getting tuned back up every now and then. Sometimes itโ€™s our mind. Sometimes itโ€™s our hands. Sometimes itโ€™s our seat.

If we allow bad habits to continue long enough, they become our normal.

Good horsemanship isnโ€™t just about making a horse broke. Itโ€™s about learning how to keep him brokeโ€”and being willing to keep ourselves tuned up along the way.

So happy with how these first few rides on Sangria have gone! โค๏ธ

Sheโ€™s always been a little extra spicy ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚, but sheโ€™s also SO smart, and thatโ€™s really starting to shine through. Only 4
rides in, including a trip to town, and sheโ€™s already showing just how much sheโ€™s taking in and figuring out!

We canโ€™t wait to see how this girl progresses with all the time, patience, and great work Dalton Jaggars is putting into her. Excited to watch this one unfold! ๐ŸคŽ๐Ÿด
