Wow…what a day!!
I had intended to write this thank you post first thing this morning, but after yesterday, I’ve been overwhelmed with a full heart and so many thoughts that it was difficult to even know where to begin. I apologize in advance for how long this is, but please read until the end, there is so much gratitude to share!
First and foremost, thank you to Dr. Lisa Schorr…my mentor, friend, and the person who taught me everything about Whiting, medicine, and this practice. Thank you, Doc, for being there and supporting me on the biggest day of my career and the reopening of Whiting Veterinary Clinic. Being handed the scalpel that I once handed to you was beyond meaningful to me. I could not have pulled off such an incredible event or understood what this community needed in their new veterinarian without all the years you spent teaching and guiding me. Thank you for putting up with me through every one of them! Thank you as well to Don for being a part of this special day, everyone loved the tours!
To our amazing volunteers, thank you! Lori, you did an incredible job running the “Find the Flea and Tick” game! Rob, Dawn, and Linda, thank you for helping keep everyone fed throughout the day. Lori and Debbie, you absolutely rocked the flea market table! Seating for the event was generously provided by Whiting United Methodist Church, and we are so grateful for your support.
Now… the FOOD!!! If you enjoyed lunch yesterday, you have Nonna’s to thank! Not only were they conveniently located to cater our event, but they were hands-down the top choice and they absolutely outdid themselves. Nonna’s has been a hospital favorite and what I consider family friends for years. They took our order last minute and delivered one of the best lunches imaginable! If you have an upcoming event, special date night, or just want a yummy slice of pizza, we highly recommend Nonna’s. Thank you to Joey and the entire team for making such a delicious lunch happen!
We are also so honored and thankful for the Manchester Police Department and the K9 Unit. The working dogs were incredible, and we cannot thank Officers Wendruff, Micciulla, and Meaney enough for the amazing police dog demonstration they put on. You guys are awesome, and I look forward to many years of working together! We would also like to extend a very special thank you to the Mayor’s Office and Mayor Joseph Hankins for taking the time to support our Open House and the reopening of Whiting Veterinary Clinic.
Another huge part of what made our event so successful was our wonderful vendors. A simple thank you hardly feels like enough. If you missed the Open House, be sure to check out:
- J&R Kennels for dog training and their petting zoo
- Pawfect Partner for dog training
- Stay at Home Pets for dog walking and pet sitting
- Perfect Paws House Calls for in-home nail trims and delicious organic dog treats
- Mobile Animal X-Ray for in-home diagnostic imaging services
Thank you as well to our sponsors: Citizens Bank, Midwest Veterinary Supply, Elanco, Merck, Hamilton Pet Meadows, Hill’s, Vetoquinol, Idexx, and Nutramax. These are incredible companies that we are proud to collaborate with. Whether you donated a basket, attended in person, or supported us behind the scenes, your generosity was deeply appreciated.
And of course…the rescues!!! Thank you to SOS Beagle Rescue, Jonah’s Ark Rescue, SAVE/TNR, Sheltie Rescue, and K’s Kitten Rescue for joining us. We hope your organizations received the attention and support you deserve. And now for the best news of all…Together, we raised $618 at yesterday’s event to be divided among the rescues! We could not be more excited and honored to pass that along.
Lastly, thank you to every single person who came out and participated in this once-in-a-lifetime day for me. Whether you came as a Whiting Veterinary Clinic alumni member or considering becoming a new member of the Whiting Veterinary family, your support meant everything to me.
I love this community, and I thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to serve you as your new veterinarian. You helped raise me and now I’ll do my very best to take care of all of you for years to come.
This practice is in safe hands… and you’re all stuck with me forever. ❤️
With a full heart,
Dr. Leo
