Luse Horses WELCOME! We offer extensive programs of training/coaching/selling reining and all around horses. It is their life's work to share their knowledge with people.

With over $200,000 in NRHA lifetime earnings and thousands of AQHA points, we have experience and drive to help you accomplish your goals. Van and Cathy Luse are accomplished professional horse trainers who have shown and earned thousands of points in reining and all around events at AQHA shows. Additionally, they have more than $200,000 combined winnings in NRHA Reining Competition. Van or Cathy

have won and worked together to produce top riders in AQHA/NRHA competition, world championship shows and futurities. Combining their talents as LUSE HORSES, this couple created a winning edge. One, Cathy Woosley Luse, a World Champion NRHA Intermediate Open trainer as well as multiple AQHA High Point Honor Roll Champion, is an expert in maintaining the longevity of a show horse's career. The other, Van Luse, a NRHA Futurity Champion trainer,is well versed in building a solid future with a young horse. They complement each other to provide an owner or rider the best full service training and coaching. Luse Horses also offers training and coaching for do-it-yourself riders and lessons that range from introducing a rider to the sport, helping them perfect their horsemanship in the show ring to taking riders to their ultimate dream of competing at championship horse shows. The Luses' have been professional horse trainers since the 1980s, emphasizing a strong foundation in both horse and rider. The LUSE HORSES' show barn is located at beautiful Mansur Oaks Ranch, Whitesboro, Texas and close by Gainesville, Texas, right in the heart of performance horse country. Van and I had the incredible honor of returning to Kentucky to judge the Clayton Classic NRHA Show together. This event holds deep meaning for both of us, as it was created by the Central Kentucky Reining Horse Association back in 2001 and then carried on by Kentucky Reining Horse Association to honor my father’s legacy. Sharing the judging privilege with Van at a show rooted in such personal history was beyond special.

The show has become more than just a competition—it’s a place where old friends gather, cherished memories resurface through classic “Clayton stories” and new champions earn their place, proudly taking home trophies that bear my father’s name.

One of the most moving elements for me is how the association continues to recognize Dad’s passion for youth riders. The perpetual youth trophy, originally created by longtime client Barbara Hunter as a huge bronze trophy made by C R Morrison, is a powerful symbol of that legacy. Seeing the names of so many exceptional young riders etched onto it over the years is nothing short of astounding. It’s clear that earning this honor means something truly special to each of them.

The award ceremony still brings tears to my eyes, not only for the joy of watching new generations rise, but from missing Dad and feeling his spirit so present in this space. From the bottom of my heart, I’m deeply grateful to the members who dedicate countless hours to ensuring the success of this show year after year—and to everyone who makes it a point to attend and celebrate what it stands for.
