Tony is a 6-7 year old Husky who came to us for our Board & Train program because he was reactive and nervous about just about everything.

Before training, taking Tony somewhere like PetSmart or even walking near other dogs was a stressful experience.

We took him out to the dog park and PetSmart to put his training to the test, and he did great. He was calm, relaxed, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being out.

This is the kind of progress we want to see. Not just a dog that listens in a controlled environment, but a dog that can go out into the real world and handle everyday situations.

If your dog is making it difficult to enjoy simple things like walks, trips to the park, or going into stores, we’d love to help.

Send us a message to learn more about our Board & Train program.

Does your dog pull on the leash, ignore you when distracted, bark or lunge at other dogs, or make everyday life harder than it needs to be?

We can help.

At Indy’s Top Dog, we don’t just teach dogs commands. We teach them how to listen and make better choices in the situations that actually matter — at home, on walks, around distractions, and out in public.

We currently have openings for:

• Board & Train
• Private Training
• Behavior & Reactivity Training

If you’ve been putting off training, now is a great time to get started.

Send us a message with the word “TRAINING” and tell us a little about your dog. We’ll help you figure out which program makes the most sense.

Just installed the new sound-dampening ceiling tiles in our kennel room!

Those large dome-shaped panels you see are acoustic diffusers. They help scatter sound throughout the room, reducing echoes and reverberation instead of letting barking bounce off every hard surface.

Why does that matter?

For dogs to truly relax in a kennel, their environment matters. Noise is a huge part of that. Dogs have incredibly sensitive hearing, and in a loud, echoing kennel, one dog barking or moving around can quickly trigger every other dog in the room.

That creates a cycle: one dog barks, another responds, then another—and suddenly nobody can settle.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of boarding facilities where dogs are housed in large, open spaces with constant barking and stimulation. Over time, that can make it much harder for dogs to relax.

We’re building our facility differently.

Most boarding facilities add dog training as an additional service.

We’re dog trainers who are building a boarding facility.

That distinction matters.

We understand canine behavior, arousal, stress, and the importance of teaching dogs how to settle. So we’re designing this facility around those principles from the ground up.

Sound treatment costs more. Building enclosed, comfortable kennel spaces costs more. Doing things this way takes more time.

But if it creates a calmer, safer, more comfortable environment for the dogs entrusted to us, it’s worth it.

Every detail of this facility is being built with the dogs in mind.

Idk who needs to hear this but feeding your dog chicken breasts and a can of green beans or whatever home cooked meal you are cooking up is not better than store bought (quality) kibble. There are tons of micro nutrients that are added to dog food to make it a complete diet.

If you want to feed whole foods, raw or cooked, there are companies that make food and add the necessary micronutrients to actually keep your dog healthy.

Can you do this yourself? Yes, you can, but you need to be essentially a hobbyist or a home made dog food enthusiast constantly adjusting dosing of vitamins and minerals, ideally having your vet do blood work regularly to make sure your dog isnt unknowingly malnourished.

Big things are happening at Indy’s Top Dog.

Our new kennel room is officially taking shape. In just 8 hours, with myself and one very helpful friend, we put up 60 feet of metal studs, hung 5/8” drywall on one side, taped the seams, installed the ceiling grid, and ran electrical for the lighting and ventilation.

Over the last few years, we’ve been constantly growing. Every time we improve our operation, it seems like the business outgrows it again within a few months.

So this time, we decided to go big.

We’re excited to officially announce that Indy’s Top Dog is expanding into a full-service training, boarding, and grooming operation.

We’ve added nearly 3,000 square feet of dedicated kennel space, along with additional training space, giving us the room to dramatically expand what we can offer our clients.

That means the same high-quality dog training you already know us for — plus a safe, professional place for your dogs to stay when you’re out of town, and grooming services to keep them looking their best.

This is easily the biggest expansion we’ve taken on yet, and we’re building it with the goal of making Indy’s Top Dog a true one-stop destination for your dog’s training and care.

More progress updates coming as we get closer to opening the new space.

A vacuum might seem like no big deal—but for some dogs, it’s genuinely terrifying.

Today we worked with a dog who was scared of the vacuum. Instead of simply trying to make her “deal with it,” we used something she already understands: Place.

Giving her a clear job gave her something productive to focus on while the vacuum was running. From there, we could gradually work through the fear while keeping the situation structured and predictable.

This is one of the reasons we teach obedience beyond just having a dog that listens. Commands like Place can become tools for helping dogs navigate things they find stressful, exciting, or overwhelming.

Training isn’t just about control. It’s about giving the dog a clearer way to handle the world.

We’re currently booking October training programs. If your dog struggles with fear, reactivity, anxiety, or everyday behavior problems, send us a message and tell us what’s going on.

I’m looking for 3 Indianapolis-area dog owners who are ready to make a serious change in their dog’s behavior this October.

This is for you if your dog:

• Pulls you everywhere on the leash
• Ignores you when distracted
• Jumps on people or cannot settle down
• Reacts to dogs or strangers
• Makes everyday life more stressful than it should be

We’ll identify exactly what is causing the problem, choose the right training program, and create a clear path toward a dog you can confidently live with and take places.

We offer both private training and immersive Board & Train programs. Financing is available for qualified clients.

Comment DOG below or message us directly, and I’ll personally reach out to learn more about what’s going on.

Sasha went to PetSmart today — and absolutely crushed it.

Before training, seeing another dog or even a person in public could send Sasha into a full reactive episode. Taking her somewhere busy like PetSmart wasn’t just stressful — it felt nearly impossible.

Today, she walked into a PetSmart packed with people and dogs and handled it beautifully.

This is what training is about.

Not just having a dog that listens in the house, but having a dog you can actually take places, enjoy, and trust to make better decisions when the real world gets difficult.

If your dog is struggling with:

• Reactivity
• Leash pulling
• Recall
• Jumping
• Anxiety or fear
• General obedience
• Or you simply want a dog you can confidently take anywhere

We can help.

We’re now booking our October training programs, and spots are limited.

We also offer financing options to make professional training more accessible without having to pay the full cost upfront.

Send us a message with the word TRAINING and we’ll help you figure out which program is the best fit for you and your dog.
