Riley is 12 years old.

And now, he is living in a shelter.

After more than a decade of life, Riley deserves more. He deserves a soft bed, a quiet place to sleep, and someone to spend these years beside. He deserves to wake up in a home, not a kennel, and know that he belongs.

And Riley makes it so easy to love him.

He’s kind. He’s mellow. He’s gentle and eager to please. He's open to living with other dogs and kids. He doesn’t need much - just the chance to be someone’s companion again.

Unfortunately, senior dogs often have to wait longer for that chance. We have several wonderful older dogs still hoping someone will look past their gray faces and see everything they have left to give.

Because there is still so much life left in them. So much love. So much loyalty. They’re simply waiting for the right person to see it all.

Charlie’s new life begins today. 🥹

He’s the first of the 28 animals we recently rescued from a single home to find his forever family, and we couldn’t be happier for him.

There are still three puppies at MLAR, more puppies at our Philadelphia headquarters, and so many adult dogs waiting for their turn.
