OKAY! Time to say it all!
I created this page all on my own back in 2011 (I believe) when I was a volunteer at this shelter. I asked a former worker about it and she said that it would be a good idea. I have had no help with it, and was proud of it, until it became difficult to manage alone. A couple years ago, though, I was starting to be treated rudely. I ignored it, because I adored the animals and lived going to volunteer from open to close during summers (and I was just a kid, as I am now only 18) and immediately after school. One woman that was hired after I had began volunteering, Lacey, was very rude to me no matter what. I would take the dogs to the park (before the water park was built) and let them play in the creek, and showed them to people telling them that they were for adoption, and when I came back I would bathe the dogs that got in the water, and still get yelled at for trying to let the caged up dogs have some fun and attempt to have them adopted. I dealt with the criticism, though, because I still loved the animals. I was so very loyal to the shelter, but Lacey didn't seem to think so. I finally got fed up when she wouldn't let a man adopt a dog because she didn't want her to go. And one time there was a full blood Bengal cat, and Lacey would not let anyone look at him for adoption, because she wanted him to stay. Wouldn't even let people take pictures. And this happened ALL the time. There was a sweet mixed breed dog that was there almost two years before she FINALLY let her get adopted, even though so many people offered to adopt her. She did nothing but sit at her desk and play card games on the work computer. Any time I would call them to come pick up a dog they would either not come, or when they did, they would tell me to stop calling them when I found a dog... Excuse me, you're an animal shelter. It's your JOB to come pick up loose dogs and cats. One time Lacey came to my house and threatened to take away my pet pig after spraying him with animal and human safe temporary hair color for Halloween, because it was "animal cruelty". I decided to leave after they kept keeping animals from being adopted, and euthanizing animals that were "ugly" or that they didn't think would get a home. And they actually said those things. I also am not the only person that has had issues with the staff, especially Lacey whom I don't know if she still works their or not. I decided to just stop posting on this page, but people seem to keep liking it, and it is growing more and more. I do not support the WSAS any longer, so I'm curious to what you guys think I should do with this page. comment your experience with them and suggestions for what I should make this page into!
I'm very sorry I kept this info for so long.
