In our first post, we covered how to prepare your home for your new puppy. Today, we're focusing on another important part of the first year: health and veterinary care. Your puppy's early veterinary visits help build the foundation for a healthy life.
Puppies typically begin their vaccination series at 6 to 8 weeks of age, with booster vaccines given every 3 to 4 weeks until they are approximately 16 to 18 weeks old. Depending on your puppy's lifestyle, environment, and risk factors, your veterinarian may recommend additional vaccines as well. The first year is also the time to discuss spaying or neutering.
The ideal timing can vary based on your puppy's breed, size, and overall health.
