Puppies almost always tell on themselves right before an accident happens. You just have to know how to read the signs! 👀

Watch for these "Pre-Potty Tells":
👃 Sudden, intense sniffing with their nose glued to the floor
🔄 Abrupt circling or pacing in tight patterns
🧸 Dropping a toy out of nowhere and walking away
🚪 Drifting toward quiet corners or behind furniture

The second you see a sudden shift in momentum—scoop them up calmly and head straight to their yard spot.

And if an accident does happen? Never yell, swat, or rub their nose in it. Fear only teaches a puppy to hide from you behind the couch to potty. Clean it up with an enzymatic cleaner, reset, and watch the clock closer next time.

Temperament testing is officially underway for this gorgeous crew! 🐾 We are evaluating each puppy's personality, confidence levels, and drive to make sure every single one of them is the absolute best fit for their future families.

A young puppy's bladder has the capacity of a shot glass, and their muscle control is still in development.

If you are waiting for an 8-week-old puppy to politely sit at the back door and whine, you are going to be cleaning up a mess 9 times out of 10. They don't even know which door leads to the yard yet!

Stop waiting for them to tell you. Take them out on a proactive clock:
⏰ Immediately when they wake up (mornings and every nap)
⏰ 10 to 15 minutes after eating or drinking
⏰ Right after active play sessions
⏰ Every 45 to 60 minutes while awake

Take away the opportunity for accidents, and housebreaking happens twice as fast.

How do puppies actually learn to keep their living spaces clean? It starts way earlier than you think. 🐾

Here is how we build the foundation at Triple Lake Ranch:

1️⃣ Weeks 3–4 (Litter Pan Training): Instinctively, puppies avoid soiling where they sleep and eat. By introducing shallow pans with dog-safe pellets as soon as they can walk, they learn the habit of stepping off their bedding onto a distinct texture to potty.

2️⃣ Weeks 6+ (Graduating to Dog Doors): Once their coordination is solid, they graduate to an outdoor run via a puppy dog door. That is where the mental lightbulb clicks: living quarters stay clean; business happens outside.

When you bring your puppy home, they already grasp the concept. Your only job is translating it to your home's floor plan!

Happy 1st Birthday to the incredible Harvest Litter! 🍂🐾

Can you believe it has already been a full year since these precious pups arrived? Watching them grow, thrive, and bring so much joy into their families' lives has been such a rewarding journey.

It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming them into the world. Now they are out living their best lives with their wonderful families.
