We are so excited to give a heartfelt THANK YOU to the Schneider family for sponsoring Spencer! Your generosity helps us provide the care, comfort, and support our senior boy deserves as he continues doing what he loves most.

Age is just a number when you have a heart as big as Spencer’s! 🥹 At 34 years old, Spencer is the oldest member of our STARZ herd, but don’t let his age fool you. This sweet boy still has so much love to give, and he reminds us every day that a horse’s impact is measured in the hearts they touch, not the years behind them!

And what does Spencer look forward to most each week? His time with Romy! There is something so special about watching these two together. The connection they share, the joy Romy brings to his days, and the way Spencer continues to show up with his whole heart are what STARZ is all about! Some partnerships go beyond riding, and theirs is a beautiful reminder of just how meaningful the bond between a horse and a person can be!

At STARZ, we believe every horse deserves to feel valued, loved, and cared for at every stage of life. Spencer has spent 34 years being exactly who he is, and we feel so lucky that he still gets to make memories, build connections, and be such an important part of our program.

Thank you, Schneider family, for helping us give Spencer the golden years he deserves! Your sponsorship makes a real difference in his life and helps ensure that this very special senior continues to receive the love and care he needs.

💛💙Want to sponsor a STARZ horse? Annual horse sponsorships are $500 and help cover food, hay, farrier care, and veterinary expenses. Each horse costs approximately $5,000 a year to care for, and every sponsorship helps us continue changing lives, both human and equine!💙💛

We didn’t need to go “fishing” for help…the Bass just showed up! Even my extended family is “o-fish-ally hooked” on farm projects!

We all know how lucky I am to have the best dad in the world. The man does SO much for me, this farm, and our STARZ family, and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without him. But apparently, one Bass man wasn’t enough for this project, so we “cast our net” wider and added two more! 🤣

While my Uncle Brad and cousin Marc were in town from Connecticut, they decided to “tackle” a project that’s been on the to-do list since I bought the farm… rebuilding our massive, falling-apart barn door from scratch! This is especially important for keeping our stall barn warmer during the approaching winter months!

All jokes aside, having family who are willing to roll up their sleeves and help make this farm better means more than I can say. Every repair, every hour of work, and every helping hand makes a difference for our horses, our riders, and everyone who finds a little piece of home here at STARZ. 💖

Uncle Brad and Marc, thank you for pitching in while you were here and sharing your expertise, and Dad, thank you for always showing up for me and this dream of mine!

And it goes to show, good things come from those who “bait”…I mean wait! 😂

Did you know one of our favorite things happening at STARZ is welcoming Girl Scout troops to the farm?!

We love getting to introduce girls to the world of horses while helping them work toward their Girl Scout Horseback Riding Badge! But there’s so much more to these visits than checking off badge requirements.

Our scouts get to learn about horse safety, grooming and daily care, horse behavior and body language, tack and equipment, and the basics of horsemanship. They discover how to communicate with a horse, build trust, practice responsibility, and work together as a team with our amazing equine partners.

One thing that makes our program special is that the troop stays together throughout the experience! We believe there’s something really meaningful about learning, laughing, and trying new things as a group. And for those girls who might be a little shy or nervous around horses, our gentle herd provides a wonderful opportunity to build confidence at their own pace.

While the Horseback Riding Badge is technically a Junior-level badge, we welcome Girl Scouts of all levels and abilities to experience the magic of the barn!

We’re so proud of the Girl Scout community we’ve built at STARZ. We’ve welcomed over 75 troops, and every visit reminds us why these programs are so special! It’s not just about horses. It’s about confidence, compassion, teamwork, and giving girls the opportunity to discover something new about themselves.

Thank you to all the troop leaders who trust us with their scouts and help us bring these experiences to life! We love having your girls at the farm! 🐴🌟

Today, we want to give a HUGE thank-you to the Robrahn family for sponsoring our beautiful Juliet! Your generosity is helping provide the care, training, and support Juliet needs as she continues working through the emotional scars of her past.

Juliet has lived a rough life, and some of the things she carries aren’t visible on the outside. Her journey hasn’t been just about learning new skills; it’s about learning to trust, feel safe, and let go of the fear that has followed her. Healing takes time, patience, and a whole lot of love. ❤️

Watching Avery connect with Juliet is such a beautiful reminder of the power of kindness. Avery meets Juliet where she is, gives her patience when she needs it, and offers the gentle reassurance that Juliet deserves. Instead of asking Juliet to be anything other than who she is in that moment, Avery continues to show her that she is worthy of love, even on the hard days.

That’s what this sponsorship means. It’s not just helping cover Juliet’s care; it’s helping provide the opportunities she needs to work through her fears, overcome her inner demons, and try to discover the horse she can become when she finally feels safe.

We are so grateful for The Robrahn family’s support in Juliet’s healing and the incredible bond being built along the way. Every horse has a story-good, bad, and the ugly….but we promise to love and respect them for every second they belong to us!

Want to sponsor a STARZ horse? Our annual horse sponsorships are $500 and help cover food, hay, farrier care, and veterinary expenses. Each of our horses costs approximately $5,000 a year to care for, and every sponsorship makes a meaningful difference in our program!

Hardy (the horse pictured here) was named in honor of someone incredibly special who lost his battle with addiction. When he was clean, he was one of the best people you could ever meet. And like so many who struggle, he found something special at the barn. He found peace. He found comfort. He found joy within our riders. He found a place where he could just be.

Today, Hardy got to share a little bit of that same barn magic with our friends at Meridian Health during their session here at STARZ. Watching these incredible individuals spend time with our horses, let their walls come down, find moments of connection, and simply breathe reminds us why this work matters so much. Addiction is a battle that touches so many lives, and behind every struggle is a person with a story and a heart.

I wish the person Hardy was named after could have had more time. I wish he could’ve found the healing that he needed. I wish our story didn’t have to end the way it did. But I am so grateful that his memory lives on in a horse who gets to be part of something that brings hope, connection, healing, and a little comedy to others. And if Hardy’s smile today is any indication, we think he knows just how important his job is. 🥹

This is why we do what we do. This is why we make room for healing. And this is why there will ALWAYS be a place for recovery at STARZ. Thank you to Meridian Health for trusting us to be a small part of these journeys!

Recovery begins with a single step and continues with honesty.

Our Equine-Assisted Learning program provides a unique opportunity for clients to connect with their emotions in a safe, supportive environment. Horses offer immediate, unbiased feedback, helping individuals recognize the walls, fears, and patterns that may be standing in the way of recovery.
