Today is Mango's Birthday! This spunky girl is a whole 2 years old and full of life! Though she was skeptical about the wafer, she did eventually eat it.

Did you know we try to take the dogs on walks frequently? You might see them (mostly in the mornings on the hot days) walking around the casino property. This lets them get out of the kennel for a while, stretch their legs, and check out all the smells of the world!

Did you see Mason (Turbo Mason) wandering around the stands yesterday? He was happy to see everyone who wanted to pet him, including children. The tile floors were a little slippery at first, but it didn't stop Mason from walking around, and after a few minutes, he figured them out and could walk easily! Mason is a 3 year old, very happy and outgoing boy who enjoys the company of both humans and other dogs. He can be a little playful at times, but he is content to just hang out, too. Not cat tested.

What happens after the dogs are done racing? They get to hang out, interact with the other dogs, their trainers and handlers, and cool down with pools and hoses. Then they can go home and take a nap!

New Sand Day means we leave the sand in a big pile and let the dogs play in it! New Sand Day is probably one of their favorite days. They run around it with zoomies, dig holes, and lay on top like they are the kings and queens of the pile. Enrichment can come in many forms, and it is important that dogs kept in a kennel setting are given chances to explore enrichment frequently, preferably daily, which is the sand pile in this instance.

If you live in Indiana, check out these two sweet boys available for adoption through Prison Greyhounds! These two stayed in our kennel for a while before being transported for adoption and fostering in Indiana. They're both super sweet and deserve loving homes!

PIXIE

Alone, Pixie might take a few moments to warm up to you, but once she gets her initial check over of you, she's happy to get all the affection you will give her. She is a little more confident with other dogs, but she only takes a brief moment alone to warm up. Pixie is medium energy and does enjoy playing with the other hounds outside, but she is also capable of calming down and enjoying just hanging out with the humans or the other dogs. When she has had enough, she will hang off to the side and watch the other girls play instead of joining them.

MANGO

Playing and running zoomies are Mango's favorite activities. She absolutely loves to run circles around you when playing! And she very much likes having the other girls in the yard to play with. She's pretty outgoing, both with new people and new dogs, and likes to receive attention after she's done zooming. Mango is certainly higher energy, but she is also smaller in size. At only 2, that puppy behavior can be expected!

TITO

An averagely sized, medium-energy hound who loves attention from the humans. He gets along well with the other dogs outside and will sometimes play with them, but he doesn't always involve himself in their rowdy behavior and will instead just watch. He seems more attached to the humans than the other dogs and he likes to be where we are. He is also interested in what we are doing and likes to keep watch outside the fence, though he doesn't always alert the pack when he sees something! If you are looking for a hound to be your shadow or to take everywhere with you, then Tito might be your hound!
