🚨 LET’S GIVE VIVALDI A LABOR DAY SHE’LL ACTUALLY ENJOY. ❤️
Vivaldi has spent the last five weeks doing one of the hardest jobs there is: being a mama.
She raised NINE puppies in a shelter in southern Illinois. She nursed them, cared for them, kept them safe, and gave them everything she had.
And now? Mama V is tired. Really, really tired!
Vivaldi is about 3 years old, and an underweight 40 lbs. Her puppies are now five weeks old and thriving. She has done her job. She has raised her babies. And she is ready for a little time to focus on herself.
Vivaldi has even been given the best suite in the house — our Executive Director’s office! But despite the VIP accommodations, Vivaldi is struggling.
She is incredibly distressed by the shelter environment. When someone is with her, she relaxes almost immediately. She snuggles in, settles down, and falls asleep. But when she’s left alone and can hear all of the commotion happening outside the door, her whole demeanor changes, and she becomes despondent.
Vivaldi doesn't need more stimulation. She needs peace. She needs a quiet foster home where she can decompress, sleep, feel safe, and remember what it’s like to simply be a dog — not a mama responsible for nine babies.
And oh, that little tail. 🥹
Vivaldi has a docked tail. We don't know whether it was intentionally docked or the result of an old injury, but what she has now is the cutest little stub of a tail that quivers with absolute JOY when she's happy.
She is sweet. Loving. Mild-mannered. And after everything she has been through, she deserves someone who will look after her.
So let's make this Labor Day a celebration of not being in labor. 😂
We hope to find Vivaldi a foster home where she can put her feet up, take a deep breath, catch up on some much-needed sleep, and finally enjoy being someone's baby herself. ❤️
Please email our foster team at [email protected] if you can help for any amount of time.
