🐾 PET HEALTH & WELLNESS: Feed the Animal in Front of You
We spend a lot of time asking, “What brand should I feed?”
A better question may be:
“What does this species actually need to thrive?”
Species-appropriate feeding starts there.
Dogs and cats have different nutritional requirements, digestive physiology, and metabolic needs—and cats, in particular, are obligate carnivores. Nutrition should respect the biology of the animal rather than simply follow human food trends.
That means looking beyond the front of the bag.
🥩 Is the diet providing appropriate animal-based protein and essential nutrients?
💧 Is your pet getting adequate moisture?
🥚 Are the ingredients nutritionally purposeful—or mostly there to manufacture a convenient product?
⚖️ Is the diet complete and balanced for your pet’s life stage?
👀 And most importantly: How is your individual animal actually doing on it?
Watch the animal.
Coat quality. Skin. Stool. Energy. Muscle condition. Body weight. Hydration. Dental health. Digestion. Appetite.
Those everyday signals matter.
Species-appropriate feeding does not mean blindly feeding raw meat or copying a recipe from social media. Homemade and raw diets can become nutritionally deficient or create food-safety risks when they are poorly formulated.
It means making food choices based on physiology, nutritional adequacy, quality, and the individual animal.
Because feeding a pet isn’t simply about filling a bowl.
It’s about nourishing the species you brought home. 🐾
Note: Pet wellness education only. Individual animals may have medical or nutritional needs that require guidance from a veterinarian or qualified veterinary nutrition professional.
