Back in the nineties, the cheese counter at Harrods had 100’s of cheeses hung over it. It’s hard to find photos nowadays, and this doesn’t do it justice. When I left art school, the first job I had was working for a sculptor and model maker creating molds from the various actual cheeses. Harrods sent us every single type and I spent weeks turning out resin, foam and fiberglass copies.
I can say that some remained edible - sort of after we had finished with them, like huge wheels of Gruyere. Coincidentally, while I was still at college, I had a weekend job on the Harrods Godiva fresh cream chocolate counter. We were allowed to eat what we wanted 🙂.
Luckily survived both jobs without prompting a dairy intolerance.
