🐾 October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! 🐾

Meet another adopted patient, Taco! This goofy guy is a hoot but sometimes gets a bit nervous at the vet so we did this appointment outside to reduce his stress. Look at those perfect little dirt paw prints he left during an excited greeting! 🤗

We know many of our clients have adopted shelter dogs of their own, and we'd love to celebrate them this month! If your adopted dog has an appointment with us in October, let our team know you'd like them featured on our social media Shelter Dog Spotlight and we’ll snap a pic! 📸

Here's to Taco and all the shelter dogs who have found the loving homes they deserve. 🏡🐾

On , Kota is doing her part to help prevent the spread of rabies by staying up to date on her vaccination! 💉🐾

As veterinarians, we play a key role in controlling rabies. The rabies virus is transmitted through the saliva or nervous system tissues of an infected mammal to another mammal. It infects the central nervous system, causing severe neurological symptoms. Once clinical signs develop, rabies is nearly always fatal.

Cases in the U.S. are extremely rare thanks to vaccination of pets and animal control programs. Most human cases result from exposure to bats. Recent reports of rabid bats in DuPage County serve as an important reminder that rabies is still present in our local wildlife and that keeping pets vaccinated remains essential.

Rabies kills thousands of people worldwide every year. Most deaths are due to rabies transmitted by dogs in countries where vaccination programs are not sufficiently developed to stop the spread of the virus. The United Against Rabies collaboration continues to work toward the goal of zero human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.

✔ Rabies is 100% preventable in your pets (dogs, cats, and ferrets) through vaccination
✔ Keep your pet's rabies vaccination up to date
✔ Rabies vaccination is required by law in DuPage and surrounding counties
✔ Contact your veterinarian if your pet may have been exposed to a wild animal
🤳If your pet is due for a rabies vaccine, give us a call.

Tomorrow (9/26) is International Rabbit Day but we think our bunny patients deserve the Friday night spotlight! 😍🐰🐇

Show us your bunnies in the comments and let us know how you plan to celebrate! 📸

Held on the 4th Saturday of September, International Rabbit Day highlights all the love and joy that bunnies bring to our lives. Rabbits can make wonderful house pets but also need some special attention, so thoroughly research how to properly care for a rabbit before adopting one. We can answer any questions you have!

Gizmo, a 9.5-year-old Lionhead is not only a current patient, he’s owned and loved by one of our technicians, Erin.

Meet Rome! 🐾

Rome recently visited us for a torn nail. Because treatment for a broken nail can be painful, sedation keeps dogs comfortable and stress-free throughout the procedure.

Rome was an excellent patient, handled his IV sedation injection like a champ, and then took a nap while his nail was repaired.

His opinion? Cheese makes everything better. 🧀💙

🌈 is observed the second Sunday of September. While our lost family members are never far from our thoughts, this is a time to pause and remember the beloved pets who have passed through our lives. 🐕🐈‍⬛🐇🦜🐀🦎 🪽

We celebrate the companionship they provided to us. Whether it was a wagging tail, a comforting purr, or simply their quiet presence, our pets gave us unconditional love and endless joy.

We would love to see pictures or hear stories of your pets that you are missing and thinking about today. ⤵️💙
