Reports appeared in the Swedish press on Tuesday about a second MRI accident that occurred in the coastal town of Varberg in April. This follows the recent incident at Sunderby Hospital in Luleå, where forensic experts have now completed their site inspection.

Details are beginning to emerge about an MRI accident in Sweden in which a hospital staff member was sucked toward the magnet while a patient was being scanned. The patient reportedly exited the scanner bore to help the staffer, who lost consciousness during the incident, early reports say.

Our brand new Magnus veterinary MRI system is the FIRST VETERINARY SPECIFIC SYSTEM IN THE WORLD to offer MRI guided Microwave Ablation.

Here is how it works: An MRI is performed to find the exact location of the tumor. The doctor then guides a needle to the tumor while watching the real time MRI images on the monitor. The MRI ensures that the needle is perfectly placed in the tumor. By applying up to 300 GHz of microwave power the tumor is ablated. While the tumor is being ablated, the intratumoral temperature is constantly monitored to prevent damage to the surrounding tissue.

We will be able to ablate tumors without the risks and cost of surgery or radiation therapy. Radiation therapy involves the use of extremely dangerous x-ray energy, a costly linear accelerator and a thick room of concrete and lead to contain the radiation.

Microwave ablation is safer and considerably less expensive than a linear accelerator and does not require extraordinary shielding measures.

The installation of the next generation Magnus AIP Vet MRI at The Institute of Veterinary Specialists in Gainesville, FL is now complete. The system has adjusted well to the new environment and is ready for patients. Our team is still onsite to continue to support the staff as they learn more about this incredible system.
