Would you like Visit with Rivet to present at your school, senior center, or business? Rivet is prepared to meet you. Visit with Rivet is a formal outreach program affiliated with Giant Paw Prints. Rivet, a mastiff mix born blind, was rescued from a kill shelter that was surrendered due to her disabilities. Rivet exhibits intelligence, affection, and normal canine behavior.

Rivet was born blind and sent to a kill shelter. GPPR pulled her and she started training. Now a therapy dog at nursinghomes and schools.

For one of our community outreach programs, Visit With Rivet, we went to Brookdale Senior Center. Rivet the reindeer carried Santa around for the residents to see. She gave kisses, got lots of pets and received some goldfish crackers for treats. Rivet is our blind mastiff mix pup that came in when she was 2 1/2 months old. Born blind she knows nothing else, what you never had you don’t miss. Chris from Takacs Dog Training has been training her since she joined Giant Paw Prints in August 2024. Rivet goes to schools, senior centers, events and stores to share her story. Rivet is confident, smart and loving so she makes the perfect comfort/therapy dog.

Rivet will be visiting the residents at Brookdale in the morning. She has a 10:00am and a 11:00am meeting.

Giant Paw Prints, Takacs Dog Training and Visit with Rivet took a trip to inspire the students of PCCTE Veterinary Careers about the rewards of rescue and the impact of our work in veterinary care, hopefully empowering them to make a difference in this field.
