COURTESY POST: Remy is not at Crane Mountain Valley Horse Rescue, Inc. but is located in upstate New York.
Since 2008, Remy has been at a resort that offers trail riding. The program he has been a part of for nearly 20 years is closing their doors. The owners are looking to rehome their horses. They have found homes for all but Remy so we offered to widen their reach with a courtesy post to help Remy find a safe landing.
This is the information we were provided:
Remy is a 25 year old gelding. He is just under 15 hands. He can be ridden both Western and English, and has occasionally done ring lessons for kids ages 6-13, as well as many pony rides for younger kids. He is completely bombproof around children, dogs, other horses, etc. He has a little bit of arthritis, especially in his front left knee, so the past two summers he has not been doing any heavy work whatsoever. They do believe that with the correct joint support he could get back to regular light duty work.
Due to Remy's age, there are a few special care things they've been doing for him. He needs senior feed twice a day to keep his weight on and a skin supplement called Equishield SA once a day to manage his allergies. He's also occasionally gotten Benadryl for allergy flare ups.
They say he is genuinely the sweetest horse in the world and they want to do right by him for all he's done for them. They also say that he would be great as a kid's horse or a companion horse.
