It’s been 12 days since the porcupine incident and another broken quill just worked its way out of her nose. I hope there aren’t many more.

Addy really wants me to take her hunting again she was pretty sore after this walk so I think she needs a few more weeks to recover. She won’t be happy about that.

We went on an afternoon walk to see how Addy is feeling. Her leg is doing much better and she isn’t showing any negative effects from the porcupine. Based on this I’d think she’s trying to prove she’s ready to be back in the rotation.

For those wondering, this is where Addy got into trouble. We pulled a bunch of quills in the field and then I carried her 5 miles back to the road so we could make an emergency trip to the vet. She’s been home resting and healing ever since but we’re still finding quills working their way out. We appreciate all of the concern that’s been expressed on her behalf. We’re praying she has a quick and safe recovery, they don’t come much better than Addy.

Doing the morning quill check, there’s one I can feel still in her head and it’s just not working its way out yet. We know there are a couple more in her chest cavity that we are also waiting for them to work their way out.

Found two more this morning, these are two that broke off in her mouth and neither I nor the vet were able to get to them on Saturday. The both worked their way into her nostrils this morning and we got them both. Every one that comes out gives us some hope, poor girl still can’t walk well though so we’re still waiting on the ones that are causing problems for her leg.
