🐾 Whit's Resort for Dogs — Looking Back & Booking Ahead! 🐾

Sometimes I don't realize just how busy this little resort stays until I actually sit down and look at the numbers!

So far this year:
🐶 55 boarding clients — and MANY of those reservations included multiple dogs!
📅 Only 47 days with empty kennels
🏖️ 25 of those 47 days were scheduled days OFF

That means only 22 days that I was actually open and available went without a boarding reservation! 🤯🐾

And we're not slowing down!

For the remainder of the year, I already have:
🐕 10 clients booked — again, with several reservations including multiple dogs
📅 31 days scheduled OFF for birthday trips, kennel upgrades, family plans, and a few weekends off

BUT I still have plenty of availability between now and the end of the year!

If those numbers tell you anything, it's this: I DO FILL UP! 🐶

If you already know you're traveling for fall break, a football weekend, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or just a little getaway, don't wait until the last minute to reserve your pup's stay.

Funny how life works.

I sat through a zoning meeting hoping to get approval to open my dog boarding facility. Even though I had planned everything down to a separate septic system for the kennels, concerns were raised about "runoff." Another neighbor who lives nearly a mile away worried about barking—even though we already live next to a dog breeder, and anyone who knows me knows I go above and beyond to keep barking to a minimum.

Then came the questions.

Because another facility was also seeking approval, the board had to dig into every detail. One of us had answers for every question because we had done the research and prepared to be a full time kennel.

In the end, neither of us was approved that day. We were both delayed another month.

It was frustrating, but it taught me something: preparation matters, patience matters, and sometimes even when you've done everything right, success doesn't happen on your timeline.

Looking back now, I'm thankful I didn't quit. Every obstacle became part of the story that got me where I am today.

From a vet tech driving an hour each way to work, to opening a dog boarding facility just steps from my front door—it has been quite the journey.

There have been challenges along the way, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am incredibly grateful that my 5 kennels stay booked about 95% of the year. This year has been absolutely amazing.

Every time I think I might finally have a week off from boarding, my phone rings and the kennels fill right back up—and honestly, I'm okay with that.

Thank you to every single person who has trusted me with your dogs. Your support means more than you'll ever know, and I am so thankful to care for your furry family members. ❤️🐾

I know several people have asked about dog boarding, and I truly appreciate every single one of you! Right now, I stay booked a lot throughout the summer. I only have 5 kennels at the resort because I want to provide the absolute best care possible for each dog staying with me.

Yes, I have room to expand. Yes, the demand is there. But between two jobs, two kids, and life at home, I want to make sure I continue giving quality care instead of stretching myself too thin.

When I opened, I honestly never expected it to take off the way it has. I can proudly say I’ve only been without boarding clients for maybe two weeks total this entire year. That alone is such a blessing, and I’m incredibly thankful for all of your support.

If you’ve boarded with me before, I would LOVE if you could leave a review! And truly — I accept all feedback: the good, the bad, and the ugly. If there’s something you loved, tell me. If there’s something you think could improve, tell me that too.
