This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

Lilies are a popular spring flower (especially as Easter approaches) but they are extremely toxic to cats—even in very small amounts. All parts of the plant are dangerous: petals, leaves, stems, pollen, and even the water in the vase. Signs of toxicity may include: vomiting, lethargy, decreased appetite, drooling, and changes in thirst or urination. Kidney failure can occur quickly within 24–72 hours.

If you believe your cat has been exposed, please seek veterinary care right away. Early treatment can make all the difference. There is no safe level of lily exposure for cats—awareness is key to keeping them safe. If you are a cat owner - do NOT bring lilies home even if you believe your cat will not be able to reach them. Please help spread awareness.

March is Nutrition Month. Did you know that 59% of dogs and 61% of cats in the U.S. are overweight or obese?

Extra weight can lead to arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, and a shorter lifespan—but even small changes can make a big difference.

It's time to focus on:
• Measuring meals
• Limiting treats
• Feeding a balanced diet
• Staying active

Sometimes dogs really do eat the homework… 😅

Meet Benni — a 5-month-old puppy with a strange appetite for his human brother’s homemade levitating train (wood blocks + magnetic strips 🚂). He just wanted his Godzilla moment.

Dr. Zary ordered radiographs, which showed radiopaque objects in his stomach. (Radiopaque means the material blocks X-rays and shows up bright white — like metal, magnets, or other dense objects.) Smaller bits were already passing, but the larger stomach pieces needed to come up.

We induced vomiting, rechecked X-rays, and after one more round — success! 🙌

Benni is feeling great and officially banned from future science projects.

Our patients don’t just come in for exams… they come in to make a statement.

We thought we were seeing Ms. Elaine Benes for her wellness visit — but instead we were graced by a four-legged legend rocking a Wu-Tang sweater like she’s about to drop the hottest album of 2026.

Honestly? The confidence. The presence. The drip.

Wu-Tang is for the children… and apparently for very stylish dogs, too. 🐾
