We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit all breed Michigan dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs and puppies in Michigan and Ohio that is foster based in the Metro Detroit area. We are dedicated to saving dogs and puppies in Michigan and Ohio. We will occasionally take in cats, kittens, pet birds, and bunnies on an as needed basis.

Leo says stop & smell the flowers for his 4 week check in!

🌼 11 pounds ➡️ 19 pounds
🌼 what is outside? ➡️ loves to explore outside
🌼 what is a toy? ➡️ collection of toys he loves
🌼 no vet care ➡️ four vet appointments
🌼 unsure of new people ➡️ warming up faster
🌼 no food ➡️ special yummy food

Leo was rescued as an emaciated boy stuck in a crate who was also covered in his own f***s & followed a starvation protocol.

Leo is still getting check ups for his weight gain & also will need a deep dental as his teeth & gums are not in good shape as we imagine from eating garbage, f***s & chewing on a crate.

If you would like to donate for his vet care including upcoming dental work, neuter & his special canned food, we & he would be sooo appreciative ❤️‍🩹

POET would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family & friends of Sian Yardley.

A beautiful soul with a life full of traveling, adventure, love & dogs - including fostering, rescuing, adopting💗

Sian & her family adopted a dog from us years ago & in lieu of flowers have requested donations to come to POET ❤️‍🩹 We are honored to carry on her love & legacy with supporting future rescues.

Leo update 💕 look at his two week transformation 👀

Leo continues to put on weight & be the sweetest boy. He is now enjoying toys! And running around the yard!

He also loves to get cleaned up with shampoo & water 🧼🛁 followed by cuddles in pillows & blankets!

Leo weighed 11 pounds Saturday ❤️‍🩹
We are following a starvation protocol & he’s already gaining weight in just these few days 💓

He is following up later this week for his skin & teeth - we will keep everyone updated.

We want to once again give an enormous thank you to Bethany at The Masters Paw for taking care of one of our special dogs, Leo 🦁🐶

Bethany saw his urine/f***s covered photo & his long nails & said “bring him now!”

She gave him the works, washing away all that neglect & starting off his new life extra clean; cutting his long nails that were digging in from living in a crate.

If you are in need of grooming in Metro Detroit, Bethany does private 1:1 grooming to reduce stress & uses stress reducing handling techniques. She also goes at the dog’s speed & does not rush or force.

Thank you, thank you Bethany for starting Leo off on his freedom day with extra love 🦁❤️‍🩹

Just rescued 💗 starved but still sweet ❤️‍🩹✨

Today we were notified by our friends at Genesee County Animal Control that a dog came in who was skin & bones, covered with urine/f***s, sores & lots of bumps/bruises who needed to follow a starvation protocol. His condition & placement of his sores/wounds suggests he was crated for a long period of time.

We are pleased to welcome Leo 🦁 to our POET family; Leo, your future is already looking brighter after a few hours. He received a medicated bath, skin treatment & nail trim! He has had two TINY meals & successfully gone potty.

We have no idea how Leo ended up like this… or his breed; he is quite unique looking & is estimated to be 2-5 based on the decay of his teeth.

Leo has no idea how to play. He looks at you like you’re going to hurt him when he goes potty. He has visible signs of neglect. He was unsure of us at first, but quickly realized his life had changed & became our new BFF 💕

We have no idea what Leo will need in terms of care, but we know that we will do whatever he needs & shower him with love, affection, comfort along the journey.

Please help us shower Leo 🦁 love on his new journey starting on 8/8! Like, share & comment & we can show him how loved he already is!

He’s perked up in just a few hours - follow along for his updates & growth.
