โ๏ธ๐พ Summer Travel Plans? Don't Forget to Plan for Your Pet! ๐พโ๏ธ
Heading out on a summer vacation? Make sure your pet is prepared, too!
Whether they're staying with a pet sitter, family member, friend, or boarding facility, a little planning can help keep them safe, comfortable, and stress-free while you're away.
โ
Leave detailed feeding instructions, medication schedules, and information about your pet's routine and personality.
โ
Provide emergency contacts, including your veterinarian, a local emergency veterinary hospital, and someone who can make decisions if you're unavailable.
โ
Pack familiar items like toys, treats, bedding, and blankets to help your pet feel at home.
โ
Ensure vaccinations and parasite prevention are up to date, especially if your pet will be boarding or around other animals.
๐ท๏ธ Before you leave, check your pet's ID tags and collar to make sure all contact information is current. It's also a great time to verify that your pet's microchip is registered and that your phone number and emergency contacts are up to date. A microchip is only effective if the information attached to it is accurate!
๐ If your pet is nervous around strangers or has a history of escaping, consider using a GPS tracking device attached to their collar. GPS trackers can help locate a lost pet quickly, while microchips provide permanent identification if they're found and scanned.
๐
Most importantly, don't wait until the last minute! Summer is one of the busiest times of year for pet sitters and boarding facilities, and availability can fill up quickly.
A little preparation now can help ensure a safe, happy, and worry-free vacation for both you and your furry family members. โค๏ธ๐ถ๐ฑ
