Animal Control:
Animal control is available daily from 8am-4pm. If you have an animal control concern, please call the shelter at 413.564.3129 x1. Officers are frequently on the road, but checking messages often. Please leave a detailed messaged with your name, phone number, and concern and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. After hours and on holidays, please call the Westfield Pol

ice Department at 413.562.5411. Lost Pets:
If you have lost a pet, please call the animal control office as soon as possible at 413.564.3129 x1. Stray dogs and cats will be held for 10 days. After a 10 day hold period, animals can be placed for adoption. Per Massachusetts General Law (MGL) Chapter 140 and Westfield's Animal Control Bylaws, you must show proof of a current rabies vaccine (and a current city license for a dog) to reclaim your dog or cat. Redemption fees will vary based on vaccination and license status of your
pet. Licensing:
Dog License Registration forms can be mailed to City Hall with payment or can be processed in person at the Licensing Department at City Hall (59 Court St, Rm 217, Westfield). MGL requires that all dogs over 6 months of age be licensed annually. Dog licensing is done in April. Dog licenses are also a great means of identification and can be traced by Animal Control. Dog license fees are $15.00 for dogs that are spayed or neutered, and $30.00 if they are not. A proof of a current rabies vaccine is needed to license your dog. You can print out a copy of the Dog License Registration form (found in the links section of this Page). Adoptions:
The animal shelter is open to the public by APPOINTMENT ONLY. You must have an approved adoption application to visit with animal shelter guests. You may fill out the online adoption form (found in the links section of this Page) or get an adoption application from the shelter. Completed online applications are sent directly to the adoption counselor. Physical applications can be dropped off at the shelter office or emailed to the adoption counselor at [email protected] After an application has been approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled. Approved applications will be kept for a month. After a month, you will have to reapply for adoption. Looking to Support? The Massachusetts Animal Coalition’s “I’m Animal Friendly” license plate
tells your community that you care about animals! By purchasing this
license plate, you will be contributing to a program that supports statewide
spay/neuter efforts for cats, dogs, and rabbits. https://massanimalcoalition.org/programs/license-plate/

If you are looking to donate items to Westfield Animal Shelter, you can call
the office for an updated list, but common items needed include: bleach, Friskies pate canned cat food, Friskies dry cat food, clumping cat litter, and dry and canned Pedigree dog food. Jessica has found her forever home! 🏡💖

Our oldest resident, 10 years old, finally has the lap she always deserved. Thanks to her amazing fosters, Jessica was able to come out of her shell and show her incredibly sweet, youthful, cuddly, lap‑warming personality. 🐾✨

Jessica struggled in the shelter. She hid under blankets, only coming out for quick meals and a few gentle pets. A foster family stepped up, and from day one she blossomed. She explored, soaked up attention, and fully embraced couch life. 🛋️
💗 Now she has her own couch, her own lap, and a family who absolutely adores her.

Fostering changed everything for Jessica. Without it, she’d likely still be hiding under blankets. It truly helps wonderful souls like her find their happy ending. 🌟

If you’d like to help other animals like Jessica, please fill out a foster application. Fostering makes a real, life changing difference. 🐱💞

Think you've found an orphaned baby deer? Think again. Even if you find a fawn alone, leave it be. Its mother is likely nearby. A fawn's best chance of survival is in the wild. Learn more: bit.ly/MassFawns

To stay hidden from predators, young white-tailed deer spend much of their first 30 days on their own. Learn about fawn development and why you should never approach or take a fawn from the wild even if it’s alone.

🦜Chirpdate:

Tiki, the cockatiel, went back home. His family couldn’t be more excited to have him back. Thank you to everyone at Highland Elementary School and the entire community for helping to reunite this funny little bird back with the people that thought they might never see him again.
