Sophia can be described as both sweet and sassy, our favorite kind of dog! 😆🥰 her greetings w visitors can be a bit exuberant, as she practices her “kangaroo”. She has been enrolled in our Paws Up Teen Time program for adolescent dogs. Her human caught this moment when a guest arrived and took a phone call while Sophia waited politely on her mat. Not a set up! Real life, real results! Great job Sophia!!!

On Tuesdays, we do a little volunteering at the Westfield Animal Shelter. Today Damiana worked w “Bender”, a 4 1/2 month old shepherd mix who was extremely sick when he came into the shelter. He’s now healthy and strong and looking for his new family. Today Damiana taught him that playng in water is a pretty fun time. If you are interested in adopting Bender please contact the Westfield Animal Control & Shelter.

Besides living and loving animals everyday of their lives, Damiana and Jill share a love of kayaking. For the past several years they have participated in the annual Westfield River Wildwater Races.
Last Saturday was race day for 2026. As always, a super fun day of adrenaline and adventure. Lots of fun racing alongside friends and neither of them went for a swim! Word on the street was that there were a lot of swimmers this year, but everyone was ok. A highlight: Damiana and Jill were side by side taking the sharp 90 degree turn at Turtle Bend and heading for the same infamous boulder. Jill just barely squeezed past it while Damiana hit it head on, with spectators cheering, and powered her way right over it without tipping over. Not an easy maneuver! Damiana was in 3rd place and so close to getting a trophy until another racer edged passed her towards the end. All in all it’s one of their favorite days of the entire year.
