Well... our very first Kids Horse Camp is officially done, and what a week it was! 🐴☀️

We've been busy the last couple of weeks getting horses and riders ready, squeezing in lots of lessons, trails rides, off-site lessons and making sure everything was set for camp. Somewhere along the way, Blackberry also discovered that blackberries are pretty tasty. 😂🫐

Camp week was full of fun from start to finish. We played pool noodle tag, musical cones, relay races, and a bunch of other games that had everyone laughing. We also practiced groundwork and lunging in the round pen, which is an excellent tool in having the kids understand transitions between gaits and to visualize how the horse moves underneath them. The kids worked through our trail obstacle course, learned new horse skills, and got to put it all together on a trail ride around the farm.

The best part was watching the kids get more confident every day, try new things, and make connections with the horses. There were lots of smiles, lots of learning, and plenty of good memories made.

We're so thankful for all the families who spent part of their summer with us. Camp #1 was a success, and we're already excited for the next one! ❤️

The best horses have a way of teaching balance, patience, humility, and strength all at once. Grateful for the chance to learn from them a little more each day, and looking forward to another week at the barn.

Two weeks full of heart, horses, and moments we won’t forget 🤍🐴

Last week was full from Sunday through Thursday with lessons, laughter, and lots of time in the saddle. We even had some visitors hiking at Moore's K**b who caught us riding in action—what a view to share! Between glowing sunset lessons, peaceful trail rides, and those simple, meaningful moments with the horses, it was one of those weeks that reminds you why we love what we do.

Over the weekend, we hosted our adult retreat, and it was something special. From horse yoga to trail rides, to building confidence at the trot and canter, it was such a joy to watch everyone grow. We also spent time doing groundwork with a client’s horse we’ll be using for camp—Majesty and Keidon truly stepped up and did amazing.

This weekend was especially close to the heart. We had the honor of bringing our horses and mini donkeys out to Camp Carefree for their family day. This is a place where children facing life-threatening illnesses are given the chance to simply be kids, even if just for a little while. Getting to be a small part of that was incredibly meaningful.

The horses gave gentle rides, the donkeys made their rounds passing out drinks and snacks (and stealing hearts, of course), and for an afternoon, there was nothing but smiles, laughter, and lightness. Watching those children connect with our animals—seeing them relax, open up, and just *be*—is something that stays with you.

Moments like these remind us that what happens in and out of the barn goes far beyond riding. We’re so grateful to have been included, and so proud of our students who helped make it all happen.

Now we’re off to see what kind of shenanigans the herd has planned next… hopefully fewer muddy baths and more smooth rides 😄🐎

Another great week at the barn! 🐴🤠
Monday we made our way home from vacation, but the horses were still on my mind (always 😅). Later, Cohiba got back to work polishing her reining, and we visited blue eyed Brody 💙After getting home I found a golden egg in the pasture 😂 (from the rock picking contest) I told the kids if they find the last one I'll honor whatever prize is inside! (I'm 50% sure there's another out there😅😀👍🏼)
Tuesday was full of lessons, with lots of progress in trotting, cantering, and building strength. We ended the day with a peaceful sunset ride around the farm—one of the horses’ favorite ways to unwind.
Wednesday was a barn reset day getting everything freshened up!
Thursday the farrier came, and Cohiba soaked up attention from visitors (she loves babies 🥹). That evening, Sonny and Whiskey took amazing care of a couple riders getting back in the saddle—Whiskey (our smooth-moving girl) and Sonny (our steady, responsive boy) make the perfect team for building confidence both in the arena and out on the trails.
Friday was more lessons with Gus going ba****ck, joined by Pearl, Journey, and Whiskey. Lots of strength-building and smiles all around, finishing with a couple private lessons and a golden sunset ride.
Saturday we traded riding boots for wedding bells 💍🐴 Congratulations to the sweetest couple on their big day! The horses and I are wishing you a lifetime full of greener pastures and open gates 😉 That evening I stopped by to see our rock pickin winners enjoying some time with Journey. I love watching kids grow on her like she helped teach my sister and I ❤️🤠
Excited for the week ahead… looks like we’ve got a pretty full stable of fun coming up 😉🐴

✨ Weekly Barn Update! ✨
If you were wondering… yes, we basically lived at the barn this week 🤠
Sunday we kicked things off at Needmore Farm riding ba****ck and chasing the sunset. These horses hadn’t been ridden in almost 3 months, but apparently no one told them—they showed up like seasoned pros!
Monday was a whole event. I spent some time in the arena with Cohiba working on cantering and spins, and of course had to let a few people take her for a test drive (because sharing is caring… sometimes 😂). Then my spring break crew rolled in! We earned our saddle time by pulling weeds, picking up sticks, and mulching flower beds—character building, right? 💪
We wrapped it up with two lessons and a mini trail ride. One of my smaller teens had Gus the pony out there cantering like she had somewhere important to be—all while staying completely in control. The confidence these kids build out here is EVERYTHING… and the horses feel it too!
Tuesday we kept the farm glow-up going (more mulching 💀) and squeezed in two arena lessons.
Wednesday = BIRTHDAY RIDE 🎉
One of my hardworking kiddos brought her crew out to celebrate, and we got a little competitive with Indian relay races (aka controlled chaos). We worked on trotting, holding their horses back (harder than it sounds when your horse wants to win 😅), and the birthday girl even got to practice cantering and jumping! We finished with a peaceful trail ride to balance out the chaos.
Thursday was STACKED. Spring break lessons all day! Sonny continues to be everyone’s favorite (he knows it too 🙄). We worked on trotting, cones, rings, relay races, and pole bending. Then we switched it up with Whiskey, who makes everyone feel like a professional because she’s just that smooth.
We also had another mini birthday ride where “mini me” decided it was the perfect time to show off her trick riding skills 🤠😂 (shoutout to Journey for being the most patient horse alive).
Then I hit the road to Germanton to wrap up the day working with my Tennessee Walking crew on neck reining and gaiting!
We ended the week a little early with a local staycation Friday–Sunday… because even cowgirls need a minute sometimes 😅
🐴 NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART 🐴

BIG week at the barn and my heart is so full 💛🐴

Monday we took Cohiba out to work on both horse *and* rider balance — because a balanced rider makes a balanced horse, and wow did they both step up!

Tuesday was our ba****ck pony party 🎉 and let’s be honest… red light, green light will forever be the fan favorite 😂

Wednesday we slowed things down with a beautiful mom & daughter trail ride. Perfect breeze, peaceful views, and some much-needed time back in the saddle together 🤍

Thursday was horseschool with our homeschool crew and they WORKED 👏 We cleaned the barn top to bottom, dragged sand off the arena, scrubbed the wash stall — all about teamwork making the dream work! A lot of kids that was their first time utilizing a shovel, and I love making first times happen. And yes… they definitely earned a little time to horse around after 😄 Playing with Journey in the arena!

Friday brought more lessons! A private working on neck reining (so cool to watch it click!), and then one of my favorite group lessons with our most experienced riders. Watching these kids confidently ride out together, helping each other, calling out holes, waiting on one another… that kind of kindness and horsemanship just gets me every time 🥹

And SATURDAY… our big Easter party!! 🐣🌸
Y’all showed UP! Our big winners collected a wild 313 lbs of rocks 😳 earning 5 FREE lessons!! Second place grabbed 2 lessons, and so many kiddos went home with golden egg goodies — shirts, sweatshirts, horse keychains, and even more free rides!

Weeks like this remind me why I love what I do. So proud of these riders, these horses, and this little barn family we’ve built 💕

Bring on next week!! 🤠✨
