After almost two weeks away, my vacation is coming to an end, and I’ll be back in the salon on Monday!💗

I just wanted to take a moment to say how incredibly thankful I am for each and every one of my amazing clients. Because of your continued love and support for my small business, I’m able to take time away from the salon, spend much-needed quality time with my family, recharge, and experience some truly beautiful places along the way.

Being a small business owner isn’t always easy, and sometimes it’s hard to step away, but this time off was so needed and so appreciated. I’m incredibly grateful that I get to do what I love every day while also having the opportunity to make memories like these with the people I love.

None of it would be possible without the wonderful families who continue to trust me with their precious pups and support my little business. It truly means more than you’ll ever know. 🐾

I’m feeling refreshed, grateful, and ready to get back to seeing all of my furry friends on Monday!

Good morning! Unfortunately I’m going to have to shut off online booking while things settle down and while I’m on vacation, because people are still going in and requesting the few spots I’ve kept open for current Mel’s Grooming clients. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, I just can’t keep up at this time.
If you need an appointment, please send me a message and give me a little grace on a response time, as I’ll be out of the salon from Thursday the 1st-Monday the 12th. Thank you again for all the continued support and love.. 🐾

📣 IMPORTANT BOOKING UPDATE 📣

This is definitely a bittersweet post to make, but after an absolutely overwhelming amount of support recently, Mel’s Grooming will no longer be accepting new clients at this time.

Over the last several days, I’ve had more than 80 new clients reach out or book appointments with me, which is something I am incredibly grateful for! However, my schedule is now booking into very late November and December, and I still have several of my existing, regular clients who need to get their upcoming grooms on the calendar.

Because I run a one-on-one salon and want to continue giving every pup the time, attention, and quality of care they deserve, I have to put a pause on adding anyone else to my schedule.

If you are already on my schedule—even if your first appointment hasn’t happened yet—you are considered an existing client and this does NOT affect your appointment or future booking. This only applies to new inquiries and anyone who does not currently have an appointment scheduled.

For my current clients, I strongly encourage pre-booking your next appointments before leaving your groom whenever possible. With the schedule filling this far in advance, I can no longer guarantee that I’ll have availability within your usual grooming timeframe if you wait to book.

I truly cannot say thank you enough. 🥹 When I started Mel’s Grooming, I never imagined reaching a point where I would have to turn away new clients because my books were this full. Your referrals, recommendations, shares, reviews, and continued trust with your pups are the reason my little salon has grown the way it has. 💗🐾

I hope to be able to open my books to new clients again in the future, and I’ll be sure to post an update when that happens!

If you do not already have both your next grooming appointment AND holiday appointment (November/December) scheduled, please book it now!!
I have had an influx of 30+ new clients reach out inquiring, and a large handful of people book online in the last 24 hours. Once these appointments are full, they are full. You guys know I’m only one gal and I can only see so many per day, as much as I wish I could see everyone every day💔
I leave for vacation next Wednesday the 30th and won’t be back in the salon until October 12th, that first week back is already FULL, with zero wiggle room, so I am currently booking out 4, almost 5 weeks.

Fall is here at Mel’s Grooming 🍂🤎

We’ve been busy over here and have had FOUR new puppies join the Mel’s Grooming pack just in the last week! 🐾
One of my favorite parts of this job is getting to meet them as babies and watch them grow with every appointment.🧡

We’re also excited to be out in the community again this weekend! 🏳️‍🌈

Mel’s Grooming will have a booth at Westfield Pride this Saturday, September 26th from 1–6pm! Swing by Grand Park and see us, say hi, and bring your pups along too! I’ll have pup cups, homemade treats, human goodies and we’ll be doing another gift certificate raffle!!

My heart is extra heavy tonight. 💔🌈

Today I found out that two of my sweet longtime clients crossed the rainbow bridge — Charlie and Onyx. 😭

Sweet Charlie was a 13-year-old Labradoodle and, incredibly, my longest-standing client ever.
Sweet Onyx was a 10-year-old Goldendoodle who held such a special place in my heart, too. 🩵

This is the one part of my job that I will never get used to.

As a groomer, you spend years getting to know these pups. You learn all of their little quirks, their personalities, what they love and what they definitely do not love. You get used to seeing them run through your door every 6–8 weeks, greeting you with a big slobbery kiss and knowing exactly where they’re supposed to go.

Some of them you get the privilege of watching grow from tiny puppies into sweet old souls. You give them countless haircuts, try new styles, celebrate birthdays and milestones, watch their little faces turn gray, and love on them through every stage in between.

And somewhere along the way, they stop feeling like “clients.” They become part of your routine, part of your business, and a little part of your heart.

Then one day, you have to say goodbye.

It’s the one part of this career that will never get easier, no matter how many years I do it.

Charlie and Onyx, thank you for trusting me to be your groomer and for all of the kisses, tail wags, memories, and love over the years. I feel so incredibly lucky that I got to be a small part of both of your lives.

You were so very loved, and you will both be so very missed. 🌈🐾

Rest easy, sweet boys. 🤍
