Spring Rock Dog Park -
Rumors of a dog park have been floating around for years. But when a favorite Field Park spot was shut down, we decided to get serious about a park - sanctioned dog park in Western Springs.
We have met with, and gained support from, a number of local officials, but more important, we have secured the unbridled support of a prominent local business woman, Kathy Deets. Kathy is the former owner of The Barker Shop, now owner of Bark from the Heart Rescue and Bark from the Heart Solutions. In Kathy’s words,
"I would love to show Park board members in Western Springs how many dog lovers are in favor of having a space like this available to them. That's why I became involved, I am offering my 19 years of dog experience to make this a successful project and make Western Springs the best it can be. Please show your support for a dog park at Spring Rock Park."
Creating Overwhelming support -
The Park board has already identified a spot for the dog park, drafted preliminary plans, and prepared cost estimates, but we need public support to move this off the back burner and make it into a reality. Raising money -
Eventually, it will come down to funding. Currently, a dog park is not in the Park Districts budget. But if we help fund it, they will build it. We have already met with the Friends of the Parks in Western Springs board, a not for profit, and they are very supportive! When we can show enough public interest, they will help us raise the money. So, right now we need you to help spread the word!
