Easy Aquariums has had numerous calls and customers coming in the store who have had issues with town water while maintaining their fish tanks. Essentially customers who have been using water from the tap that come from public water sources in Portland, Westbrook, Cape Elizabeth, Gray and Gorham are having ich and bacterial outbreaks 1-2 days after the fish maintenance. We do not have answers on what may be the reason only that the pH is registering under 6 and ammonia is over 1ppm directly out of the tap. Please test your water prior to use and maybe consider using bottled water temporarily. We have had enough people call and come in the last week that we feel the need to let people know about how the town water sources may not be safe for fish maintenance. Thank you everyone.
