Welcome to the Official page for The Diamond P Ranch where we have been hosting horseback rides into the beautiful mountains surrounding West Yellowstone since 1953. We are located 7 miles west of the west gate to Yellowstone National Park, in the city of West Yellowstone, Montana, and 6 miles northeast of Island Park, Idaho. We offer guided horseback riding for all ages through the Gall

atin National Forest, which surround West Yellowstone. You can choose from 3 different ride options Monday-Saturday. The rides are very relaxing as you meander past mountain streams, varieties of local timber, mostly lodge pole pine and quaking aspen, and drown in the color of the wild mountain flowers. The colors will peak, usually, in late June. We will even be able to stop during the ride and pick some fresh wild strawberries and huckleberries in late July. You will also be able to see all kinds of wildlife and native birds on your ride.

David might be new to the ranch, but he’s already winning hearts—and rocking braids like a true star. 🌟🐴

One of our wranglers gave this big sweetheart a little pre-season makeover, and he soaked up every second of the attention. Just because you’re hauling a wagon doesn’t mean you can’t look fabulous doing it, right?

Swing by for a ride and say hi to David—he’ll be the one with the braids and the softest eyes on the ranch. Our historic wagon rides start rolling mid June and are open to all ages!

There’s a moment, right as you pass under the headgate, when it all sinks in—you’re really here. The mountains, the horses, the open sky. For a few hours, you're not checking your phone or watching the clock. You’re just riding. And smiling. A lot.

There was a time when the West wasn’t a place on a map—it was an idea. A promise of adventure, freedom, and wide-open spaces where a person could lose themselves and find themselves all at once. That West isn’t gone. It’s still here, in the backcountry of Montana, just outside Yellowstone, where elk graze at dusk and the stars burn bright in a sky untouched by city lights.

Out here, we don’t just remember the West. We live it. Come ride with us, and see for yourself.

The best way to end a day in Yellowstone country? Watching over 80 horses thunder across the land, manes flying, hooves kicking up dust in the golden light of sunset.

After the last ride of the day, guests gather at the fence line, the air thick with that perfect mix of leather, dust, and fresh mountain breeze. Then, with a single cue, the herd takes off—running free to pasture, a sight so wild and beautiful it stops you in your tracks.

Out here, the West isn’t just a story—it’s alive, in every hoofbeat, every sunset, every wide-eyed rider who leaves with a piece of it in their heart.

🌄 Stay after the 4:30 ride to witness the magic for yourself.

There’s a moment—just before the first ride—when a guest looks up at their horse, eyes full of wonder and just a little hesitation. Maybe they’ve never been this close to a horse before. Maybe they’ve always dreamed of riding but never had the chance.

Then, with the help of our wranglers, they swing into the saddle, take a deep breath, and feel the steady power of a good horse beneath them. The trail stretches ahead, the Montana sky endless above. That first step into the cowboy life? It’s unforgettable.

At the Diamond P Ranch, we don’t just take you on a ride—we welcome you into a legacy of adventure, grit, and wide-open freedom. Saddle up, and let’s make a memory worth telling.
