This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Turns out you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! 🥰

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

🚨 Blankets Needed! 🚨

At Hyannis Animal Hospital, we always strive to make sure every furry patient feels safe, cozy, and loved while in our care—especially when they are recovering from surgery or feeling under the weather.

Right now, our stock of bedding is running low, and we need your help! We are currently collecting donations of:

🧡Fleece blankets (new or gently used, clean, and in good condition)
💚Throw blankets (no heavy quilts or items with heavy stuffing/filling, please, so they are easy to wash!)

These blankets provide incredible comfort to anxious patients, keep older joints warm, and give pets a soft place to rest during their recovery.

📍 Bring donations to our front desk during our normal business hours

Thank you so much for your continuous support of our clinic and the animals who need us most. Every cozy blanket makes a world of difference! ❤️🐕🐈

Dr. Zelman recently performed a C-section on a patient named Marina, who is a Bulldog. Bulldog C-sections require extra special care and precise monitoring, but Marina was an absolute champion throughout the entire procedure.

Thanks to our dedicated surgical and care team, everything went smoothly, and Marina is resting comfortably and doing fantastic!

Even better news: Marina is now the proud mama of five healthy, adorable puppies—four girls and one boy! 🐶💕

Please join us in wishing Marina and her new little family all the love, snuggles, and best wishes as they head home together.

Exercise is an important aspect of our pets lives. Movement prevents obesity, lowering the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and joint issues. The outdoors help engage our pets senses and keep their mind sharp. Physical activity releases endorphins that fight stress and anxiety. High energy breeds especially need a job or task to do each day, so getting their exercise in is vital!

Chubbs (Owned by CVT Amanda), pictured below, enjoys frequent morning walks on cranberry bogs. His owner knows the importance of getting his energy out early in the day to help with mental stimulation, body condition, and longevity!

⛈️IS YOUR FUR BABY READY FOR THE UPCOMING STORM?⛈️

With the potential for a multi-day storm headed our way this weekend, high winds, heavy rain, and power outages are possible. While preparing for the storm, don’t forget to include your four-legged friend’s needs!

For any pet that is in need of anxiety medication due to the upcoming storm, the time to call our office and request these medications is NOW! We are here for your needs!

Here is a quick checklist to make sure your pets stay safe:

✨Double check pet identification is up-to-date
-Ensure ID tags on all collars / cat carriers are current
-Make sure your pets microchip contact information is up to date.

✨Build a pet emergency kit
-Have at least 3-5 days of food and bottled water
-Have a copy of your pets medication list along with the medications themselves in the kit
-Have a copy of your pets vaccination status
-Possibly, have a can opener if your pet eats canned food
-Have a favorite toy, blanket, or comfort item for your pet
-Extra p**p bags, litter, and a disposable litter box if you have a cat.
-Sturdy leashes/ harnesses / carriers for transport
-A current photo of your pet in case they get lost
-The name of your veterinarian’s office along with their phone number
-Extra blankets / pet-friendly heating pads for warmth

✨Plan potty breaks
-Take dogs out on a LEASH before high winds and heavy rain hit. Storms can obviously startle pets, which may cause them to take off!
-Designate an indoor backup area (like p*e pads) in case going outside becomes unsafe.

Please take steps to keep both yourself and your pets safe!
